Supermarket In Los Angeles
Jenna Lee
Known as one of the best Chinese restaurants in Los Angeles, Yang Chow combines fine dining, an elegant atmosphere, and quality service, making for one of the best culinary experiences in the city. It is certainly one of the jewels of Chinatown, and if you happen to be in the area, you should make your way over to Yang Chow restaurant to enjoy Chinese food done right.
Last year, Yang Chow celebrated its 30th year in business. The restaurant opened in 1977 in the heart of Chinatown in a former diner, which was converted into a two-room eatery. Yang Chow was started by a family of five brothers who came from a long line of cooks and restaurateurs. They decided to name their restaurant after their home town, and ever since then Yang Chow has continued to become one of the most popular Chinese restaurants in the city.
One of the reasons that Yang Chow is so popular is because of its world-famous slippery shrimp. They were highlighted in a L.A. Times article that ran in the early 1980s, and ever since then, Chinese food lovers have made the trip to Yang Chow for the express purpose of enjoying the wonderful dish.
There are plenty of other reasons to try Yang Chow, though. The extensive menu offers delicious takes on many staple dishes of the Chinese dining experience, as well as inventive takes on old favorites. For reasonable prices you get huge helpings of excellent food, such as the flavorful Moo Shu Pork and, of course, the slippery shrimp.
All in all, Yang Chow offers a family-oriented dining experience that is great fun for both natives of Los Angeles and those who have traveled far and wide to see the City of Angels. With delicious food and excellent service, Yang Chow will leave you feeling anything but disappointed.
