Average movie consumers are likely to think that the end of a season, especially summer is to be regarded as quite strange when it comes to releasing new movies on the market; every so-called blockbuster is likely to be related to summertime and dollar theaters. But Bring It On four and Sydney White are to be regarded as unusual exceptions to this marketing rule that considers this period of time to be too early for the movies that are Oscar baits one. But this is not the case with these movies, especially with the later one. So, the mid-September can actually become a sort of perfect time when it comes to releasing high-budget teen movies. Slightly brainless diversions are to be expected in this time of the year and these diversions are likely to deal with already known and classic story that will be readapted.
Sydney White has been regarded as a sort of silly teen take of Snow White; but what gives this movie its comic features is strongly related to the clever bits that are provided by the seven dwarfs. The plot is not to be regarded as a very original one but it is based on the classic and well-known tale. There's not a lot that a filmmaker can do in order to change the classic story because Snow White is almost everywhere regardless of her present social status.
What gives this movie and its story most of its funny and clever bits are, of course, the Sydney's faithful and loving seven dorks. Each one has his own personality that is likely to correlate with the seven classic dwarves who are to be found in the Disney's 1937 classic. For example, Lenny, a character who has some horrible allergies, is the well known Sneezy while the sweet and simple-minded George is the dwarf called Dopey in the classic Disney production. Some dwarfs and characters were easier than others when it came to figuring them out, but this feature is to be regarded as a fun nod when it comes to the additional information that was provided besides the well known source material.
The dorks were, as other characters that are to be found in an ordinary teen movie, as everyone can actually imagine; they are ?dorktastic,? and an attentive audience can actually sense and notice one the presence of different little nods when it comes to the fashionable geek culture; ?Star Wars,? comic books, video games and even the famous American ?Doctor Who? are likely to make the audience laugh pretty hard. Yes, most of the jokes were sometimes quite cheesy but you still can enjoy yourself while watching this movie that has no prejudices when it comes to its targeted audience. Therefore, it can be fun when you are actually able to laugh at various dorks who are doing dorky things that you are likely to see in your ordinary life and routine too..
Despite the entire plot that is quite tired when compared to other teen movies and despite the existence of the cheesy jokes, Sydney White can be considered to be worth the established admission price, at least when it comes to the teen girls. The whole movie celebrates the existence of diversity and even self-esteem, an inner structure that is quite forgotten or even noticeably absent when it comes to many teen movies. Sydney is quite spunky and unafraid when it comes to being herself; the actress who deals with her portrayal and performance, a 21-year-old actress named Amanda Bynes, is to be considered as the kind of female model that every young girl should be idolizing. Think about all these movie issues because this actress is far more talented and giving than the panty-less and drunk starlets.
That this movie is as tolerable as a teen movie can be is mainly related to the fact that the actress is quite loveable; the presence of the American actress Amanda Bynes is to be noticed because she is a sort of engaging starlet who strongly needs to upgrade her own choice of scripts. The critical approach of her role was quite acid and she has to be aware of the fact that more attention is to be paid when it comes to her future movie choices. A few forgettable comedies, including the present one are likely to transform her into a modern Snow White who eats the poisoned apple thus launching her career into a lengthy coma. In spite of the college setting, this movie is not to be considered as a reflective one when it comes to the real campus life; actually this movie is not likely to be appealing to moviegoers who are older than 15 years.
