Many people, who have a Panic Attack, will have more. If you have recurring panic attacks then you are said to have Panic Disorder. Some times people refer to them as Anxiety Attacks or Anxiety Disorder.
There is a difference between Anxiety and Panic attacks. Panic Attacks include a bunch of physical symptoms that can have you feeling like you are having a heart attack or you're going to die.
Some of the more common symptoms of panic attacks are:
Racing or pounding heartbeat
Chest pains
Dizziness, lightheadedness, nausea
Difficulty breathing
Tingling or numbness in the hands
Flushes or chills
Dreamlike sensations or perceptual distortions
Terror--a sense that something unimaginably horrible is about to occur and one is powerless to prevent it
Fear of losing control and doing something embarrassing
Fear of dying
You may have all or just some of these symptoms.
Anxiety Attacks can include the fear of having a Panic Attack. Anxiety attacks are milder and usually last longer. I have found them both to be very uncomfortable.
Initially I didn't know I was having Panic Attacks. But once I learned about Panic Attacks and Anxiety Attacks I new I had to get control or the fear of having more would make me miserable for the rest of my life.
Some of the more common symptoms of Anxiety Attacks are:
Symptoms that you might experience for Generalized Anxiety
Disorder include,
Inability to shake off persistent and nagging worries
Chronic worrying
Insomnia
Fear over a situation they can't control
Intense anxiety
Panic attacks
Inability to relax
Physical symptoms such as trembling or twitching
Headaches
Irritability
Mood swings
Diarrhea
Nausea
Lightheadedness
Shortness of breath
Constant tension
Depression
Trouble concentrating
Tendency to feel tired
Fear of having Panic Attacks
You may have all or just some of these symptoms. Once you know the symptoms you have ,and what you may have, you need to confirm a diagnosis from a medical Doctor.
Whether you suffer from Anxiety Disorder or Panic Disorder you need to seek treatment as soon as possible to stop your condition from getting worse.
Anxiety and Panic disorder are considered mental conditions not medical conditions.
Your doctor can prescribe anti-anxiety medications and counseling.
Counseling and learning as much as possible about these conditions is key to your recovery.
