Whenever considering Colorado Ski Resorts, I cannot help but think about how beautiful it is at Breckenridge! Every time I visit I am amazed at the beauty of the slopes, the snowy ol'town at the bottom of the runs and the majesty of it all. I always know that I want to return to ski in Breckenridge. It is a matter of planning my ski vacation to Colorado.
So what is it with Breckenridge? Well, every trip I have taken there has been with a considerable group of skiers. From the beginning of the trip from Denver across the mountains to Breck we arrive in Ski country. Then we pull up to our ski resort, check in and settle in our rooms. We then play phone tag (thanks to the cell phones), decide to gather at the entrance to go out for the evening... continuing our ski trip. Here is one of the times it hit me; more later.
Our considerable group gathered at the entrance. The overtalk grows and, as with most scenarios to move large groups of people, it takes several minutes to actually leave the front door and make our way down the street for something to eat. We eat at the Breck Brewery, and our ski trip off to a cool beginning. After celebrating a bit with Colorado's best brews, we make our way back to our resort, determine a time meet for the slopes in the morning and head off to our rooms. And it hits me again wow.
The three days in Breck are awesome. Skiing in Breckenridge is perfect. Lots of sun, great temps and the slopes are in perfect condition. Aside from a couple of sunburned faces, our party suffers no injuries (not bad for flatlanders). We made our way to the slopes each day and gathered for dinner and some fun each night. The ski vacation was perfect, except, and here is the duh moment explained, we are only together part of the time.
The thoughts had been hitting me all week. We are staying in the ski lodge. Sure, it is a beautiful resort, but we are all separating each night. What we should have done was rented a condo in Breckenridge (or even a Breckenridge home). It plain as day and when I explaing it to everyone in my group, they agreed. A Condo rental would be perfect. It would be the best of everything in one place.
So, we unanimously decided to rent a home or condo in Breckenridge on our next ski trip to the area. If you are planning a group trip (hopefully its not too late), look to book your Colorado ski vacation in a condo or Breck home.
