The Field Of Communication
Henry Kruz
It was in 1979, that the first commercial cellular network was launched in Japan. But to get things more advanced, communications world had to wait until the end of 80’s. There after, the world saw a boom in mobile communications. It was Radiolinja that launched modern mobile network technology in Finland in 1991 marking an introduction of competition in mobile telecom sector. Later after a decade, the first commercial launch of 3G (Third Generation) happened in Japan by NTT DoCoMo. It was in the second half of nineties that mobile phones became handy and comfortable.
The impact of mobile phones is evident from the figures that the total number of mobile phones have outnumbered the population in many countries including the UK. Luxemburg is the country with the highest mobile phone penetration in the world.
It is estimated that around 2.14billion mobile phone subscribers were there in the world in 2005, which rose to a 2.7 billion by end of 2006.
Mobile phones have transformed from a rare, expensive equipment of the business elite to a pervasive, low-cost personal item in the last one and a half decade. It is evident from the statistics showing the number of mobile phones out numbering landline telephones in most of the developed countries.
Usually, etiquette must be maintained by the telephone users. Talking loudly during funerals, weddings, in toilets, cinemas, and plays must be avoided as it may create nuisance for others. Usage of mobile phones is prohibited in aircrafts as there is a possibility of interference with aircraft radio communications.
