Planning for a tournament requires a lot of time, time practicing, studying your shots, and working on the greens.
Course management or putting yourself in the best possible position with each shot is very important.
You need to work on this consistently because giving yourself the best opportunity is more significant than how far you hit the ball, or how good you putt.
The best putter in the world isn't going to do any good if he cant get the ball in the vicinity of the hole!
Concentration is another necessary part of training for golf tournaments, when you are taking your shot you need to be able to block out all other noise around you. Nothing should be able to distract you at the final crucial moment of your shot.
Plan a routine, and follow the same routine for every shot you make, this is important because you don't want to be ready to shoot and not know what you are going to do.
A well developed routine assures that you will always walk up on the ball with the confidence that you will make the shot you intend.
A routine is developed over time by consistently doing the same thing each time. You have particular routines in your daily life that you are not even aware of.
How you get out of bed, go to the bathroom, etc. etc. Mine is very specific, I get up let the dog out, prepare coffee, let the dog back in, feed her, go to the bathroom this routine has developed for me over a period of 10 years, and I don't think it changes more than a step or two any day of my week.
Get your routine together, and you will find it easier to approach the ball each time with confidence that you will assuredly make your shot.
