There are more websites on the Internet than you can count. What are you going to do to make sure that your website get the visibility and exposure it needs to survive and thrive? It doesn't matter how great your website is, if no one ever sees it, it might as well not exist.
What Does It Mean To Drive Traffic?
To drive traffic means simply this, get as many people as you can to your website.
What Can You Do To Make Sure That You Get Online Traffic?
There are a number of ways to get people to your internet store or business. Here are just a few:
1. Pay-per-click advertising: You pay every time someone clicks on your ad.
2. Article marketing: You provide free information by way of an article at no obligation to your prospective customer.
3. Offline advertising: People advertising online often forget to, or discount the significance of doing some type of offline advertising or marketing. You need to make sure that the more exposure you can give to your online business wherever you go, the more potential profit you make. The goal of your offline efforts should be to reinforce your online marketing message AND to potentially entice people to visit your website.
Would you build a store and not have a Grand Opening? Would you open an office and not tell anyone about it? If not, then why would you keep your web business a secret. I think we have severely confused the Internet with magic. Sure, it has almost magical qualities, but the people that created and run (Google) the Internet are scientists. You don't have to be a scientist to use it, but you better have a good understanding of the real science that makes the Internet work like magic. That science has everything to do with how you get exposure, or drive traffic, to your site.
If you are already into Internet Marketing or want to someday be, I strongly suggest that you study marketing, in general. Marketing is the key to your success. The methods and mediums of marketing online and offline may be different, but the principles are the same. Master the principles of marketing and you will understand how to use the methods and mediums.
The key to your business, whatever it may be, is to find real customers who are willing to pay for what you have to offer (or, have them find you). In the real world, this means having people with cars drive to your store or office. In the virtual world, this means you find productive and relevant ways to drive traffic to internet enterprise. In the real world, you depend upon the people to get themselves to your store. In the virtual world, you act like more of a chauffeur or shuttle bus. Your online marketing efforts literally allow you to pick your prospective customers up at designated "stops" and take them to your place of business.
Design your marketing plan to include several mediums and tools. If you master the basic marketing principles to drive traffic to your website, you will almost automatically build up the customer base and online exposure necessary to generate long-term profits for your business.
