Pedestrians Have Right Of Way
Seomul Evans
Firstly, take the credit bureaus to task. The first step you need to take is to start disputing the negatives. It is easier to do this right in the beginning rather than at a later stage. Fire the first salvo by disputing the negatives. This becomes essential when you consider that you will not be allowed to take legal action with the opposite party unless you first file a dispute. Mark this as your first priority when you are repairing your credit.
Secondly, whether you decide to write things down or type it down, it is important to keep a record of everything. Write down the name of the guy you talk to, write down the date you sent a letter or received one, nothing is trivial here, writing everything down. It helps. According to the rules stipulated by FCRA Fair Credit Reporting Act, they have to come back to you within a month with explanations and if they don't, you can go scot-free. Nothing works like a documented fact. Keep them written and intact.
Thirdly, don't go online. The virtual world is not the safest way to argue your dispute. There are no faces involved neither are there any documentary evidences that are recorded. There is nothing but your screen and a lot of typos. You cannot point out the internet listings that you don't find factual. Yes, there is that drawback. Disputes on the internet are not entertained leaving you with no option but to carry on knowing that the process is flawed and in the end your endeavors will be an effort in futility. Sure, it is tempting as it is easier to just log in and type your case. However, it does not stand in a court of law and will not make any difference with regards to your credit repair. You would end up being at square one all over again instead of moving forward.
Remember, there is no easy way to fix your credit. Don't for a moment think that even this will pass. You got to be patient with this one. It takes around half a dozen months at least to get to it. To incur a debt it takes a very short period of time, but to repay it takes a lot of time. There is nothing you can do that would take care of your predicament just like that. You cannot just wish things away. If you are swimming with the big sharks you could just drown. It is going to take you a lot of time. There is nothing you can do, but wait and fight it out.
Finally, it is easy to get depressed and call it quits but you've got to tell yourself that it can be done. Yes, it is going to take some time, but again it's worth it, isn't it? Once you fire your first salvo as a dispute form, then you can relax a bit, take it one day at a time. Following up is mandatory, but you can go easy on worrying too much. You can schedule the task of planning for the credit repair in a more organized manner and work at it in a disciplined way. Make sure you keep these things in mind before you start working on repairing your credit.
