I have been an online entrepreneur for years, and I have seen many individuals launch online businesses. Just as fast as I watched them come, I also stood by and witnessed them as they went. I often thought of each individual who came to the Internet with big dreams, the disappointment that they must have felt as those dreams quickly fizzled out.

I was however puzzled by the alarming failure rate, and I'm extremely curious as to how so many people could fail in the digital land of opportunity. I began to interview a ton of online business owners, most were barely making enough money to cover their web hosting let alone being able to quit their day jobs.

Then it happened just like a light switch being turned on in a dark room. All of the puzzle pieces began to fall in place, and the answer was crystal clear.

Just about everyone alive has heard of or at least knows of someone that is considered to be a “Dot Com" success story. Those stories motive people to run to the Internet with big dreams of grabbing their share of the riches. So what do most people do??? They spend a few minutes brainstorming a few ideas then they rush to building a website.

This is the point when most individuals begin to realize that the saying, “build it and they will come" is so far from the truth that it is ridiculous. In all reality the saying should go something like this, “build it and you will be the only one looking at it", now that seems more like the truth. With no traffic, and a lack of Internet Marketing knowledge, the old nine to five is starting to look a little better to most.

Then we have those people who refuse to give up at the first sign of danger. The calling for financial independence is too strong to give up. What’s next??? SEM (Search Engine Marketing) although this is the right idea, it’s usually approached in the wrong way. Most people actually go to the search engine, and complete the add URL form. BIG MISTAKE!!! If you are one of those people who actually have done this, I do not mean any disrespect, but it really is a waste of time without a planned out process.

After about a month or so with no money coming in and their site is nowhere to be found in the search engines this is when the desperate begin to resort to black hat tactics. This is the end of the road, best-case scenario they give up and continue working the old nine to five.

Last but not least we have what I refer to as the brain damaged individuals such as myself who truly hate their day jobs and begin to grasp for straws. Grasping for straws is a very dangerous ground to walk on my friend. I have been in trouble for everything from spamming to owning websites with borderline illegal content. I have been sued by ISP’s, and threatened by several Attorney State Generals. I could go on and on, about the troubles I’ve been through. Anyway all of this because I failed to follow the three steps that I am about to give you below:

Step 1: Target the correct keyword and or keyword phrase

Step 2: Apply on page optimization to all of your web pages.

Step 3: Start your off page optimization

If you apply those three steps correctly you will make money every time without fail.
