Recently I came across an interesting website where a couple of recent blogs spoke about the environment. The website www.actualglobe.com does really have blogs supporting the environment and they are written in an interesting manner.

One of the blogs gives ideas for Christmas gifts. Christmas is fast approaching and everyone will be giving presents to their near and dear ones. Most people rack their brains to get the most suitable ones which are easy on their pockets also.

This blog suggests that we should reduce our carbon footprints by buying green gifts. These gifts are quite inexpensive. It suggests that we buy clothing and accessories made of natural or organic material. There are organic T-shirts available in all sizes and there are bead necklaces and bracelets which use wooden beads and abaca threads. Crayons and coloring books which have nature as their themes can be given to kids who love to draw and paint. The best idea is to plant a tree and give it to the gift recipient's name. It will be a very unusual and thrilling gift. There are nurseries from where one can buy plants or seeds.

Food items that can be sent as gifts should also use recyclable material for containers. Cute containers of recyclable material are also available. One can make sauces, or cakes or some exotic edible stuff and send them to people who could send them as gifts, in reusable containers. There are so many other similar ideas. One needs to innovate, think and send gifts using biodegradable stuff and non toxic material.

Children can be presented with coloring material which is biodegradable and painting pictures which stress on the environment. It would carry the information of saving our environment too.

If we decide to use washable napkins instead of disposable paper napkins, if we use normal plates and cups instead of paper ones, if we slow down on newspapers or recycle them, we should be making some progress. With Halloween just gone and Christmas fast approaching, there is much party stuff made of paper which is lying unutilized. We can use it for Christmas instead of buying new things. Or use biodegradable matter which will cut down on tree cutting numbers.

We can send our invitations through email or mobile messages to save on paper. We can limit our use of paper in our houses so that fewer trees will be cut and we will save them and our environment. We can use biodegradable containers for the cakes, pastry and sauces which we cook to present to our friends during the festive season. Lovely boxes are also available at the stores.

Another blog on this website talks about the disparity in the world. There are several poor nations which depend on the richer ones for their sustenance. And the rich ones are mainly concerned about their own economic conditions forgetting that the world today has shrunk and whatever happens in one part of the world also affects the rest. Everyone has to be together, sharing joys and sorrows instead of quibbling and being at loggerheads.
