Autoresponders - A Few Things To Consider
Earl Stringer
An autoresponder can be one of the most valuable assets that an internet business owner possesses...if used correctly. A well-run autoresponder could be the difference between a one-time buyer and a life-time customer. This article will identify the benefits of having an autoresponder. With that being said, there are certain things you should look for when choosing your autoresponder.
? There are 2 types of autoresponders (regular or smart). A regular autoresponder is pretty basic because it is primarily used for sending out short and simple emails that are sent automatically when someone emails you or your business. A smart autoresponder takes sending emails to another level. When using a smart autoresponder, you have the ability to create a group of customized messages that you can set individual times as to when they are sent out. This type is great for building a solid long term relationship with your customers. Take the time to ask yourself which one of these autoresponders would be right for your online business. I personally recommend getting a smart autoresponder for any online business owner. They are usually more expensive, but well worth it.
? If you do decide to use a smart autoresponder (which is highly recommend) you need to determine where you would like your autoresponder set up at. There are 3 places where it can be run from:
The first place is your personal computer. You see, there is software out there that you can use to install your autoresponder on your own desktop or laptop. A downside to this is that you will only be able to run it if you are always around your computer (your computer only).
A second place your responder can be is on an third-party hosting site. The bad thing about this is that your on a site with many others just like yourself all sharing the same IP address (which is not good for you).
Last but not least , your autoresponder can be put on your own website hosting server. The trick here is that if you have your own unique IP address through your hosting company (which you should) you will have complete control and won't have to worry about other people that can affect your business, because you are not sharing an IP address with anyone. Be sure to check with your hosting company concerning shared IP addresses, unique IP addresses, and the compatibility of using an autoresponder. Some responders can not be used with certain hosting companies.
At the end of the day having it put on your own server will be most beneficial to you and your business.
? Make sure you are getting your monies worth. There are tons of companies out there that are selling autoresponders, all with different features and prices. Some even have monthly or even yearly fees. My take is, if you pay anywhere between $100-$200 for an autoresponder, it should be a one time fee. Do your research, take some time to compare before for purchasing one. Autoresponse Plus (ARP3) is a really good one. They go for about $200, but you're paying for quality.
