Shifting a clothing retail business to wholesale clothingbusiness is one of the many approaches that businessmen and women takewhen it comes to handling their businesses. Although retail businesscan be profitable, especially when the location is perfect and thecollection are always updated, the income coming from a wholesaleclothing business is still larger compared to retail. This is obviouslybecause wholesale clothing usually does their business withother business establishments that usually buys in bulk, rather than inretail in which a customer would buy only one kind of product.
Usually, most wholesalers today came frombeing a retailer, which is why some wholesalers today still own their aretail shop or two to provide cheaper sets of clothing compared toother retailers. These are, in fact, wholesale clothing businesses thatalso serves the end market. So what are the difference of wholesalingfrom retailing? What are the changes that retailers should be aware ofwhen shifting their business from retail to wholesale?
Change 1: Capital
Changingfrom retail to wholesale practically means changing the amount ofcapital that retailers would like spend. This is usually becausewholesalers would have to deal not with the end market, but with otherbusiness establish, most like are retailers. Because of this,wholesalers would have to get more stocks, that usually would requiremore capital. Although cheaper per piece, particularly when it comesstraight to the manufacturer, the bulk in which wholesalers would haveto stock up are twice as many compared to those that retailers stock up.
Change 2: Customer
Although some wholesalers would still serve the end market or consumers, wholesale clothingbusinesses would usually serve to other business establishment. Asidefrom retailers, wholesalers would also serve other wholesale clothingbusinesses, as well as exporters and importers.
Change 3: Location and Storage
Havingmore stock would require more room. This is the reason why somewholesalers would rent, buy, or build store houses in which where theywill store their stock. Unlike retailing, in which stocks are usuallyhidden away in the back of the store, wholesalers would have to getlarger storage spaces to house their stock. Location, on the otherhand, isn't as important as those with retailers. This is becausewholesalers aren't usually attracting customers to visit their store,because their isn't even any store to begin with. The only thing thatwholesalers would have to take into account is the accessibility oftheir store houses from other business establishments, such as themanufacturer and retailers. Staying close with these businessestablishments would make it easier to supply retailers and to get newstocks from manufacturers.
Change 4: Office Setting
Usually, wholesale clothingbusiness doesn't have any stores such as those with retailers, onlyoffices. These offices only functions as a way to get hold with clientsand new clients.
