While performing mold removal, always wear protective gear. These include respirator masks that are commonly available for $30 or less. Protective goggles should also be worn during mold removal. Swear latex gloves to ensure that you don't touch the mold during the mold removal process.
When covering the area for mold removal, seal off the area with plastic sheets to prevent the mold spores from disbursing into other areas. Use adhesives and duct tape to contain the area while doing mold removal. You can even place an air scrubber inside the containment area while doing mold removal. Of course the professional air scrubber for the purpose of mold removal cost thousands of dollars. But a smaller air scrubber which cost far less will work equally well.
Hepa vacuum the surface to remove the mycelium, mold spores and other possible mycotoxins from the drywall. This will prevent them from been released in the air during mold removal. Using the glove box method, cut a 6mm plastic that is 4" wider and longer than the area affected. Secure the plastic in place with adhesives and then take a drywall knife or a razor knife and cut the dry wall. Place it carefully inside the garbage bag and duct tape it securely to prevent the spores from escaping during the process of mold removal.
Again hepa vacuum the areas which look seemingly decontaminated by the mold. This will catch the remaining mold spores during the mold removal process and ensure that the whole area becomes mold free. Always dry out the entire place to ensure that there is no moisture. If there is any moisture then the mold will come back.
