How You Can Help Reduce Your Winter Bills
Chris Jensen
Guess what there are cheap effective ways to keep the house warm are. You wouldn't need to shiver in your house. Most of the cold air comes in through the creeps in the windows and doors. You got to make sure that all the windows have got no cracks in them. You might want to weatherproof the doors, windows, and door frames.
A good idea would be to try and feel those cracks and watch out for air coming in. Consider buying weather-stripping kits which are available at hardware stores and other all-purpose shops. Having blocked the cracks you think your rooms would be as warm as the summer months.
Of course not, as air could flow underneath the door. Consider sewing a draft stopper by yourself. It wouldn't cost you much. You may choose to buy one otherwise. If you seal that part, underneath your door then you would have regulated temperature in your room, both in summers and winters as well.
Our experts on effective ways of keeping your house warm this winters, suggest that cut out a plastic, strong enough to cover your windows. Stick it and air dry it using your hair dryer. Remember that plastic wraps seal the air, which means that you wouldn't have ventilation. So consider sealing only unused windows and leave the rest as you don't want your house to be devoid of oxygen.
Go and get some home winterizing kits. Begin by applying insulating pads to your regular outlet cover. If you choose to do this for all your plugs that are faced in exterior walls facing then heat loss would be eliminated. Paying attention to these details could help you cut down your fat bills. One thing which we cant do without in winters is the hot water. We need it for everything.
So start working on your pipes. Insulate them in order to avoid freezing over. You may want to use newspaper or special pipe insulation as well as a hot water blanket to cover your water tank. Do this before the mercury drops to record chilling temperature. If your pipes freeze then it will be very difficult to have it running. Run both your hot and cold water taps and make sure that the water keeps moving. During very cold weather, leave your taps dripping to keep up the water flow. You may place a bucket underneath to avoid wasting water. This actually helps prevent the pipes from freezing up.
Two blankets are cheaper than your warmer. Switch off the warmer and exercise to keep yourself warm or simple wear warmer clothes. After all you don't want to pay fat electricity bills, do you?
