I help many beginners who are trying to build their Internet business. Unfortunately, many of these beginners fall for the many scams which target them. I'm going to cover some of the most common online scams beginners fall for.
1. Canned websites - These packages, although maybe not your typical scam, are still not helpful to beginning online marketers. The reason is that these quick and easy sites are often not SEO friendly. Also, many of these sites usually have duplicate content problems. Beginners should stay away from these sites, and learn to make search engine friendly web pages.
2. Easy and cheap links - Never participate in anything that promises you many back-links. Never sign up for offers which say something to the effect, “$29.95 for 10,000 back links." That is a definite scam. And not only is it a scam, but it can also get you banned from Google!
3. Free ad sites – Beginners often want to promote affiliate marketing offers on free ad sites. Free classified sites simply won’t. Who goes to free adclassified sites to buy anything? I sure don’t, and I'm sure you never do. Free classified websites are visited mainly by the other advertisers there who trying to produce. Real buyers do not visit those types of free ad sites.
4. Free hosting – Although free hosting isn't really a scam, it really is a waste of time for Internet marketing newbies. No cost hosting offers a place to put a web page, but that web site does not belong to the site owner. It is a no cost website, and the owner of the site is putting into a site that is not theirs. That's a lot like putting work and effort into a rent house. It's nice to live there while you're there, but when you leave, you have zero to show for it at all. Always make sure you work on your own site which can become a real asset to you in the future…unlike a “no cost".
