While it is true that the internet offers plenty of opportunity to get extra income, you need to be careful that the so-called opportunity isn't really a huge scam. Perhaps, in the end, the only earning opportunity they speak of is how they can get a lot of profit from misleading you.

So how do you know if the website is offering a real and valid opportunity? First of all, avoid any earning opportunity that is based on simply recruiting additional distributors. The opportunity to get commissions should come from actual product sales or business services. Furthermore, there must be an opportunity to purchase goods and services without becoming a distributor. If not, then this is an illegal pyramid scheme.

Also beware of an earning opportunity that requires you to purchase a lot of inventory upfront. These are unstable companies trying to get a fast buck, or worse, they can be thinly disguised pyramid schemes.

Beware of any website that claims that you have the opportunity to earn a lot with little or no work because your downline (those people you've recruited into the plan) will do it for you. Sales and supervision are hard work, and no matter how golden an opportunity seems to be, there will always be some commitment required.

Don't be blinded by so-called miracle products! Balance the desire to grab what seems like a promising opportunity with healthy suspicion. Check with an independent source to make sure that claims are true. Testimonials aren't a guarantee that the opportunity to earn is true, since they can be given by “shills” (people paid by the company to lie about their profits)

If you're required to attend a meeting or seminar, don't feel pressured to sign up right away. Insist on having time to think over the opportunity they offered, and possibly speak to your partner or lawyer. If the opportunity is real and legal, they shouldn't have any problems with that.
