When I first started Internet marketing, I was under the misconception that the only viable form of advertising my programs was through the Internet. I quickly became stuck in the rut of Google Pay-Per-Click, e-zine advertising, safe lists, traffic exchanges and all things related to advertising on the Internet.
I was drawn to the anonymity of Internet advertising. After all I didn't have to personally meet my prospects face to face. I know many other marketers out there feel the same way. It's easy to hide behind the impersonal facade created by the computer generation.
Now there certainly isn't anything wrong with the tried and tested methods of Internet advertising. It definitely works. However, I've recently realized the power of face to face marketing.
Marketing to real live persons, not some Internet phantom on the other side of the web, makes your program more personable. People respond more favorably when they can attach a face or personality to the program you are marketing. I've had much higher conversion rates marketing face to face than through any other form of advertising on the Internet.
However, there are many reasons why many may shy away from the bolder method of approaching people on the street. One fear I had was related to the stigma attached to MLM(multi level marketing) programs. I admit to feeling prejudice against companies like Amway who have given a bad name to MLM businesses. Fortunately, MLM marketing has come a long way since those days and there are many legitimate MLM programs that you don't have to feel bad about promoting. Many are making good money through programs like SFI, Empowerism, GDI domains and much more.
All you need to start public marketing is a handful of business cards and fliers. The holiday season is the perfect time to start a face to face marketing campaign. Think of the millions who will be hitting the malls between now and Christmas. Think of the money they will be spending on buying gifts for their uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and every other family member. They just might be receptive to the idea of making a little extra income to pay off the holiday debts.
Many of the MLM programs offer pre-made fliers you can download, take to the local Kinkos and make copies to distribute. SFI and GDI domains even offer business cards you can purchase. So why not arm yourself with a handful of fliers and business cards and hit the pavement. You might be surprised at the results.
