Interview With A Professional Opt In List Builder

David Brooks:
No problem Tim. My first question to you is did you always start out by building an opt in list?
Tim Beachum:
Nah David my first year or two online was your typical horror story. I initially thought that I was going to build a website and presto! I would be able to quit my job in a week or two. (chuckling)
David Brooks:
Man I think that is a thought that we all had in the beginning.
Tim Beachum:
After I realized that my website was nothing more than a billboard in the forest. I set out to learn how to drive traffic to my website. That was easier said than done. It felt as if I was purchasing ebooks just about every other day. Most of them were nothing more than garbage. However there were a few that gave me some pretty good tips that really helped me a lot.
After about a year I was only making a few hundred dollars a month. Nowhere near enough to quit my regular job. So I set out to create another product and repeat the process that was making me a few hundred dollars. After about two years or so I was making anywhere from two to three thousand dollars a month. I had several products going and at the time life seemed pretty good.
I was in a bookstore thumbing through a magazine when I came across an article about a guy on the internet that was making Millions online. The guys name was Corey Rudl. I damn near got a speeding ticket trying to get home an pull up his website. Without reading any of his rather long sales copy I purchased his ebook for $147 ? quickly skimmed through it and got started. With in a couple of months I nearly doubled my income.
David Brooks:
At this point have you started building an opt in list?
Tim Beachum:
I am ashamed to say that I didn't. At this time I really didn't understand the importance of having an opt in list. Keep in mind that I was far from a technical person and I thought that the necessary software and or script it took to start building an opt in list was complicated. So I didn't bother with it. My theory was if it's not broke why fix it.
For a young guy from the ghetto, I was making $50,000 a year in addition to the other $40 I was making by working my regular job. As far as I was concerned life was good.
David Brooks:
Wow, I can't even begin to imagine the thousands and thousands of dollars you were leaving on the table.
Tim Beachum:
Looking back at it I can't believe it either!
David Brooks:
What made you finally realize that you should be building your own opt in list?
Tim Beachum:
Once again I would have to credit Corey Rudl. I can't remember the name of the program that he had developed, but I do remember that it was awesome. Not only did I purchase his software, it worked so well I had a special super fast computer built that did nothing but run this program. After about six months I had an opt in list of close to 20,000 people. I was making six figures and had quit my regular job.
David Brooks:
What advise would you have for those just getting started online?
Tim Beachum:
That's an easy one? There is no truer saying than the money is in the list. Whatever you do START BUILDING YOUR OPT IN LIST RIGHT NOW!
David Brooks:
About a year or so I had challenged you to develop a method that would cost very little and it would also help an individual to get started building there own opt in list.
Tim Beachum:
Oh yea I remember that.
David Brooks:
You wrote an ebook entitled ?Money Making Secrets Vol. 1? what was the response from that ebook?
Tim Beachum:
That ebook is still selling today. I pretty much walk you all the way from the basics to building a list. Now keep in mind, the majority of the tools that I discuss in the ebook will cost the individual absolutely nothing to get started. However since most of the tools are free every body and their mother is using them and the key to them working for you is to be consistent.
David Brooks:
So if you are consistent you could build a huge opt-in list?
Tim Beachum:
Well that depends on what market you are in. If you are promoting an ebook on how to train your pet turtle I wouldn't expect to build a huge opt in list. The key is to offer them something of value to get them on your list.
David Brooks:
Tim I know you are a busy man, and I have a few more questions if you don't mind?
Tim Beachum:
Come on David, I have all the time in the world for you my friend!
David Brooks:
Did you ever make it home?
Tim Beachum
Yep! I'm laying on the couch relaxing. (laughing)
David Brooks:
Uhhhh life must be nice! Anyway most people especially when they are first starting out do not have something of value to offer. Nor do they know how to create something. What do you suggest?
Tim Beachum:
Yea I run in to that a lot ? in fact that is one of the most popular questions that I get. They can get a boatload of products with resell rights for 10 bucks at a website called . There is enough material there for a person to build an opt in list and to have a ton of back end products to sell.
David Brooks:

(laughing) You know David it's amazing how fast rumors get started on the Internet. Well I guess it isn't really a rumor. I have been running some test with Adsense. I haven't decided to release my system yet because I am only making a few thousand a month. When I get up to about ten or fifteen thousand I will start teaching people.
David Brooks:
Wow! Only a few thousand in a couple of months! That is incredible Tim ? personally I think you should release your findings right now. (laughing).
Tim Beachum:
After playing with Adsense for a few months I come to the realization that it isn't that difficult to start generating fast cash with Adsense. All you need is good keywords, and a lot of content. Adsense pretty much comes down to purchasing the right scripts and software to automate the entire process. Well the majority of the process anyway.
David Brooks:

Tim Beachum:
