Bjork Tickets- The Case Against Aluminum
Alexa Evans
Bjork is a sensation in her home country of Iceland, and whenever she raises an issue, most people listen. These days Bjork has beef with one of the country's biggest exports, aluminum. She claims that the aluminum industry is damaging Iceland's precious resources as well as its geothermal energy, mainly because most of that energy is being used so quickly to produce the metal. In an effort to get the word out to the public, Bjork is currently participating in a project called Nattura, which aims to help nurture companies in Iceland that could be more sustainable and eco-friendly. She is a huge proponent of searching for alternative ways to use the chilly island's own resources, like geothermal energy. She has taken it upon herself to give concerts and to sell her music in support of projects, some of which include growing algae for making fuels and making a harder case to promote continuing tourism. You can check out all of the latest information on Bjork's tour schedule by going to http://www.stubhub.com/bjork-tickets.
Bjork made her solo career debut in 1993 after she released her first solo album called Debut. It received positive reviews and propelled Bjork into instant international popularity. The following year she went on to win two BRIT Awards for Best International Female and Best International Newcomer. Bjork has been heralded as one of today's most compelling and integrative performers, which is why she has established a devoted fan base over the years. Her ability to stay current and continue to make music that is so highly in demand speaks of her skills as a musician.
Her next record released was titled Post, and it showed a much bolder side to the Icelandic singer. She has been quoted as saying that she called her new album “Post” because “the songs were like letters from London home to Iceland. It's like I have a love affair with someone, and it goes horribly wrong, and I go: ‘Dear Iceland, Possibly Maybe.'” This particular album brought immediate success with another set of touring and people were scrambling to buy up Bjork tickets before they all ran out.
Soon after Post she released Homogenic which received much radio play, and this album particularly showcased some of her best songs thus far. The album eventually reached the gold status in the U.S. in 2001 and platinum in 2006. Her follow up albums throughout the 2000s continued to bring her success worldwide. Vespertine, Medulla, Drawing Restraint 9, Army of Me and her Greatest Hits album went on to bring Bjork more fame and success than she could have possibly hoped for. Her international audience was listening and growing at a rapid rate.
Bjork, although first and foremost a musician, has also starred in several films and has recorded several songs for movies throughout the years. Bjork has traveled beyond Iceland's borders to become an international star, and in doing so, she has also become an outspoken voice for various environmental and social causes.
