Visit Manchester For Some Fantastic Festive Revelry This Winter

    View:
To truly capture the Christmas spirit this season, as well as to put some colour back in your cheeks, a trip to Manchester is definitely prescribed. Indeed, filled with an assortment of wintry activities and festive cheer, the city takes on a whole new personality in the run up to Christmas. The result is a spectacular winter wonderland bursting with yuletide charm!

For instance, why not start your day off with a spot of ice-skating? Host to an open-air ice rink in the heart of Manchester, and surrounded with Christmas trees and festive decorations, it is a great place to get into the spirit of things. From romantic couples, to families and friends, everyone can join in the fun.

Alternatively, you could head to the Alpine Village to indulge your adventurous side in some snow-filled activities. As such, you can venture onto the slopes for some skiing or snowboarding, while those who want to experience some tobogganing thrills can hit the Luge: a 60-metre long ice slide. If you wear yourself out, you can always recharge the batteries with an apr's-ski aperitif at one of the many surrounding bars and cafes.

Excitement seekers can also take advantage of Manchester's new Christmas snow slide. Standing at 21 feet and measuring 50 metres in length, it is definitely one open-air ride guaranteed to get the pulses racing. Not only that, but you can get a good view of the city in all its Christmas glory as you climb to the top!

The traditional Christmas markets are another attraction not to be missed. Indeed, regarded as some of the best in both the UK and Europe, Manchester is filled with the scent of mulled wine and hot chestnuts as they open their stalls to the public.

Scattered around the city, there are a total of five markets to be found. Offering up a huge selection of food and beverages, in addition to numerous arts and crafts, they are the perfect way to get the Christmas shopping done while simultaneously engaging in some festive revelry. This year also sees the unveiling of a six-metre high German Christmas pyramid ? the Weihnactspyramide - complete with nativity scene, as well as an Alpine House.

However, no festive break would be complete without taking in the sights of the city's Christmas trees. Boasting two, visitors to Albert Square can enjoy the traditional fir tree, whilst Piccadilly Gardens will house a 32-foot Christmas sphere, comprised of coloured orbs.

With so much fun to experience in Manchester at winter, you can't fail but be swept up in the spirit of things. So, if you need to recapture your festive spirit, why not get yourself booked on one of the many and soak up the festive spirit?
