We've all heard the jokes way too many times now: "I need a spare tire. Can I borrow the one from around your tummy?" If this type of joke makes you start to suck your gut in, then maybe it's about time you started to do something about your love handles. There saint much to love about that fat deposit and why on earth would we want to love them? In most cases, being called fatso, pot belly, lardy and big boy does nothing for our self esteem. 1) Change your lifestyle.
Do some research and find out the best way to eat. Cut down on the fat, sugar and all high calorie foods. You don't have to go on a starvation diet, just be aware of what you're eating. Love handles are made of fat. Excess calories in your body turn into to fat. See where I am going with this? Cut down on the fast foods and try to eat incorporate more fruit and vegetables into your daily diet. There are many ways to do this. Like I said, do some research and find an eating plan you can live with.
2) Work those abs.
Yes, you may have a super solid six pack already but you'd never know. Why? Because it is hidden under the layers of gut fat!. Along with a good eating plan, sit ups and other strength training exercises will help by building muscle to replace that fat you'll lose by eating right. Muscles themselves help to burn calories. Just keep that in mind.
3) Get sweaty.
Pull on some loose clothing and go for a 30 minute brisk walk. Or if you're fitter, go for a run. And if that is not your thing, try cycling, swimming, football or any activity which will raise the heart rate and get you sweating for 30 minutes 3 - 4 times every week. And if you can do more, even better. Just don't kill yourself.
4) Drink water
The easy one, but not many people drink enough water on a daily basis. Even if you don't like the taste, get used to it. By drinking at least 8 glasses of water every single day, will help to reduce bloating and water retention. This will help reduce the bulges and quell hunger. It's only water, but it will help shift those handles.
Ways To Get Rid Of Love Handles
So what about those love handles huh? Why on earth do we call them that? Nobody loves a love handle, well most of us don't . They are just like a bad smell which seem to linger on!
The bad news is this. If anyone tells you they have a quick way of getting rid of love handles??.DO NOT BELIEVE THEM! It is not that easy. There are no rapid quick fire ways to get rid of love handles. And in the majority of cases, spot toning does not work either.
But there is hope. Certain changes in the way you exercise and the way you run your life can do one heck of a lot to ridding yourself of the spare tire. Here are s few suggestions to get you started?
Surgery.
OK. Don't panic. I mean Liposuction. It may seem a little drastic and it is not for everyone but if you have seriously tried just about everything else out there, liposuction is the last resort. I would go as far to suggest that it maybe the key if you are 10 to 25 kilos overweight and it is all in the midrift area which won't seem to reduce in size, even though the rest of your body has slimmed down.
Liposuction will improve your contours but you won't see much weight loss even though the fat is sucked away from the problem area during the liposuction procedure. As always, before considering this option you will need to consult with your doctor
Make your back stronger
Sit ups and crunches will only do so much on there own without working on your lower back with specific exercises. This will increase the overall muscle in your midsection, which will lead to less fat, which leads to much smaller love handles. I can suggest one drill which will make a difference:
As you lie on your stomach, elevate your knees and feet and 'flutter kick' your legs as if you were swimming on dry land. You should do this for 15 - 20 seconds, rest for 30 - 40 seconds and then repeat once more.
Cut down on your Salt intake.
Nowadays, we all know that too much salt in our foods is not beneficial at all. It is also a good friend of the love handles. Why? Because too much salt can lead to water retention, especially around the tummy area and will make your handles seem like super love handles. This is an easy step to follow as reducing your salt (sodium as it is also known) can lead to a much healthier you!
