Caralluma Fimbriata is a succulent plant belonging to the cactus family. It is found mainly in India and the surrounding areas and grows wild there.
In India where it is most popular, it has been eaten by locals for hundreds of years and probably longer. The plants green follicles are most often boiled and salted before being eaten although it can be eaten raw as well. It is also made into chutney's and used in making pickles as well.
The locals who eat this vegetable found it contained certain properties that acted like a natural appetite and diet suppressant while at the same time boosting their energy level and quenching their thirst. For this reason Caralluma has always been used as a portable hunting food and also became known locally as a "famine food" and used extensively in the drier, more arid regions of India.
Of course, modern science has now caught up with all the benefits of Caralluma Fimbriata and the new arrival of this succulent cactus is just now becoming very popular for not only being able to suppress your appetite and boost your endurance but it also appears to lower blood sugar.
Research has now discovered that extracts of Caralluma Fimbriata appear to act on certain hunger centers in the brain itself thereby causing a reduction in the feelings of hunger. Unlike most appetite suppressants on the market today, Caralluma does not seem to have any type of affect on the neurotransmitters within these hunger centers.
More recently, studies are finding that pregnane glycoside, an important extract of Caralluma seems to be not only an effective appetite suppressant but also a major player in the reduction of BMI, fat, blood glucose, blood pressure and a noticeable reduction in waste and hip circumferences as well.
Other benefits include increase in lean body mass, enhancement in the ratio of blood HDL/LDL, improvement in capillary health, hearing, memory function, joint inflammation and others.
Surprisingly, Caralluma Fimbriata is a completely natural appetite suppressant and does not contain any artificial ingredient, chemicals or any type of preservative which more recent studies indicate can possibly interfere in the body's natural dieting process.
As far as any know toxicity or adverse reaction associated with the use of Caralluma, there have never been any recorded instance of either. In fact, there have been numerous studies done of late to determine the safety factor in human consumption. The main facts remain. This vegetable has been eaten by countless generations without any know consequence. Not sure there are any better studies than that.
Be prepared for a media avalanche as Caralluma Fimbriata becomes poised to overtake the current appetite suppression market. I fully expect this to become even more popular that the current Hoodia craze with this product being even less expensive while being far more effective.
Weight Loss After 40
Fad weight loss diets don't work - period. And the sad fact is that nearly every new weight loss diet you hear about in the popular press is lust a fad diet. These diets, and many of the others currently doing the rounds, are just fads. They only work for a very short period of time, they only work for a small segment of the population, and most of the weight lost is quickly regained in a very short space of time.
Only a few weight loss diets work for most people, and these are diets that are realistic. They don't work by restricting food in unrealistic ways. Rather, they work with reality, based upon how the appetite and how the body work. They appreciate the reasons why people eat too much, or too much of the wrong things, and work on this. They don't severely restrict calories, because this isn't sustainable and only causes weight gain over the long term, usually. In short, they teach people how to succeed with long-term weight loss, gradually and steadily.
For most people, eating is a very enjoyable experience. If food looks and tastes good and you're hungry, of course you want to eat. The problem with those who struggle with weight is that usually they eat at least a significant amount of food that isn't good for them. Most of these foods have tastes and smells that are irresistible, even though they're bad for your health when eaten in significant amounts.
This makes it extremely difficult to maintain the will power necessary to avoid much of the tempting foods and creates a situation which causes a lot of diets not to work. If you add to that the long established bad eating habits that many overweight people have established, you have a recipe for failure.
In addition, people are individuals, so that the way we metabolize and digest food can change the way we handle it in terms of weight gain or loss. Different people eat for different reasons, and stress can make some people turn to rich and fattening foods.
There are a few people who struggle to gain weight the way most of us struggle to lose it. Some people should avoid simple carbohydrates because not doing so can make them prone to diabetes. Still others struggle with fat and cholesterol. This is why fad weight-loss diets simply don't work. Yes, they may work for some, but because we're all different, we need different tools.
However, there is one new weight loss method that is not a fad. It doesn't make empty promises and it's not a diet. In fact, it's a holistic method that has been tested scientifically. It respects your body and how it really works, which means that IT WORKS. It utilises your senses of taste and smell so that you really can effectively lose weight. In other words, your nose knows.
Medical director of the Body Metabolism Institute Dr. Leon Massage has founded a highly successful, respected weight loss program in Melbourne, Australia. He was looking for a way that was safe and natural and that didn't use drugs to help his patients control appetite and avoid binging. As he did his investigation, he came across some research done by the Smell & Taste Treatment and Research Foundation in Chicago. The research utilised 108 overweight volunteers whose average age was 48 and whose average weight was 197 pounds. Their average body mass index was 31, with a BMI (body mass index) of over 30 considered obese.
Over the course of six months, the group was given two different types of different flavored crystals every month, and they were asked to sprinkle these crystals on their food at every meal. Otherwise, they were asked to continue their normal eating and exercise patterns, if applicable. At the end of six months, 92 of the volunteers had finished the study, or 85.1%. The group lost an average of 33.6 pounds, or 5.6 pounds per month.
The trial concluded that certain tastes and smells could induce a very real sense of satiety. That is, they helped volunteers feel full. This occurred even if the same foods were eaten and volunteers did not perform any additional exercise over what they normally did. Because they did not have the desire to overeat or to eat in a way that was out of balance with their own personal chemistries, people could naturally begin to lose weight until they got to a personal ideal weight range for them, or a healthy BMI. They did not need to undertake unnatural or forced behavior patterns in order to lose weight.
Dr. Massage of the Body Metabolism Institute has gone a step further and created the BMI Weight Loss Wristband. In this wristband, he infused special scents that suppress hunger. The wristband is worn during the day and the person wearing it can simply sniff it whenever he or she wishes to eat more than is appropriate. When the wearer has the wristband on, hunger is curbed via neuro-association with the message and the smells so that he or she does not overeat.
Losing weight should now no longer be painful. With Dr. Massage's wristband, losing weight becomes effortless, natural, painless, and most of all sustainable. The results speak for themselves
