I know that as we get older our metabolism slows downso it is very important to stay active, unfortunately I am at a deskmost of the day with very little time to go out for an hour walk. Ihave to be honest with myself and say that I don't really enjoyexercising and have to force myself to do the little bit of exercisingthat I do. I really thought that I would wind up steadily gainingweight for the rest of my life. I could envision myself being obese bythe time I hit 60 which was more like a nightmare than a thought. Ikept asking my doctor if there really is a weight loss program thatactually works and that she would recommend for someone my age. Theresponse I got from her was always about exercising more with no realrecommendation of any specific diet.



The problem was that Ireally didn't over eat, I would skip breakfast, have something lightfor lunch and eat dinner, although I have to confess, we eat dinnerlate because of my husband's work schedule. I always thought that asidefrom my lack of exercise, my eating late had a lot to do with the extrapounds I had been putting on. I even started to exercise in the morningafter the kids got off to school but it was hard to keep a schedule andI never was consistent at it so I was back to square one.

Then afriend of mine told me that she had downloaded this diet from theInternet and was following it to the tee. After looking at her resultsso far, I was impressed, although I didn't ask her exactly how muchweight she lost, I could tell she had dropped a few pounds and she hadnot been on the diet for that long. I thought to myself, maybe therereally is a weight loss program that actually works after all.

Shestarted to explain a little about what made this diet different fromall the rest and what she said really made sense to me. She learnedthat your brain controls the release of fat burning hormones after eachmeal. This diet uses a technique called calorie shifting because inorder to lose weight your diet needs to be shifted every few days. Itdefinitely seemed to be working for her so I decided I would give it atry as well, and for less than the cost to fill up my car, I could getthe entire program.

I have now been on the program for about 3weeks and I can already tell that I've lost a significant amount ofweight, I don't have a scale at home so I'm looking forward to seeingmy doctor in 2 weeks and the truth will be told then. I know that myclothes fit and I can actually get into my jeans without having to layflat on my back! Yahoo, there really is a weight loss program thatactually works!

Most diet and weight loss programs have a high failure rate depressing, with people either never reach their weight or to achieve goals and give them back all the weight they lost (and sometimes more) in about one year.

First the weight, so fast is desirable that many of us are willing to sacrifice health and ignore common sense in the hope that some new weight loss program or system will work. This dream can pipe unfortunately outweigh the negative consequences. So let's examine the other side of the diets.

What is an unhealthy weight loss program?

Almost all popular weight loss program falls outside into a diet of the following categories: low-calorie diet, meal replacement drinks, packaged foods, unbalanced nutrients, and ketosis diet. Let's see how they stack.

Whenever you drastically reduce your calories, the body in an unnatural state and its defenses kick in. So, if calories drop below, say, 1000 calories a day, your metabolism is shut down in an effort to conserve energy. And weight loss with a sluggish metabolism is very difficult.

Your body begins with muscle tissue to supply energy, which in turn leads to a decrease in metabolism. Hit him to an extreme, the body will break its vital parts (such as the heart muscle) tries to meet its energy needs.

Another problem with this kind of weight loss program is that the food provided is not always healthy. "An abnormal condition characterized by excessive production of ketone bodies. Often caused by a high protein, low-carbohydrate diets like the Atkins diet."

Atkins and other weight loss programs are based on the principle of restricting carbohydrates to the point that the body enters into ketosis. On the surface, a ketogenic diet seems to work for two reasons: First, you lose large amounts of weight, which is very gratifying that the Dieter. Secondly, you do not experience hunger.

But there are serious drawbacks. Your weight drops due to water loss (which occurs if you restrict carbohydrates) and a loss of lean muscle tissue. That is not true, lasting weight reduction.

* Can I have some sweets and eat my favorite foods?

* Can I eat in restaurants, enjoy a glass of wine for dinner, or some dessert?

* Can I follow this weight loss program without it with my lifestyle?

* Can I lose weight without feeling hungry?

* If the development of lifelong eating habits for weight control with this weight loss program?
