Just being sick with a cold, the flu, or an even more serious condition can make you feel absolutely miserable. It has been found that children should not be given aspirin products for a fever so you should always consult with their pediatrician as to what they should be given to reduce a fever.

Meningitis is a serious illness that is accompanied by fever. There are also many other serious ailments that cause you to have one. When you have the cold or flu many cold and flu medications have fever reducers in them. Most people will try and use these sorts of products before making a trip to the doctor, but after several days if you have no improvement, it is always wise to go ahead and see a doctor.

If you are having fever regularly for some unexplainable reason, you should see a doctor. There could be an underlying cause that is life threatening and in some cases time might be of the essence. When your body has fever, it definitely means there is a problem that needs to be taken care of somewhere.
