Winter Vacation New England

    View:
The old Chinese saying "Mt. Huangshan is beautiful in the all year round, but its scene in winter is more attractively" is a perfect description of snowy Mt. Huangshan. Travel to Mt. Huangshan in winter you will be pleasantly surprised and have some unlooked-for experience:

Snow

Snow is an eternal theme of Mt.Huangshan in winter because all the beauty spots take a dramatic change. During this time, the peaks, the mountains, the wonder stones, the trees and the wines all dress in white. Appreciating the ice sculptures, you will find that you are traveling in a silver fairyland and astonished at the marvel of nature. You will be intoxicated and fascinated in such a picturesque landscape that you will forget to return to the hotel.

Rime

Rime is one of the famous wonders of Mt.Huangshan in winter. It looks not so like snow, and not so like frost but is more beautiful and vagarious than snow or frost. When fog or drizzle comes to Mt. Huangshan in the sub-zero weather, the trees, the rocks, peaks will be covered with the rime, and you may find yourself in a crystal and shiny wonderland with clusters of frosty corals suffused with a plentiful supply of fresh air.

Sea of Clouds

Winter is the best season to appreciate the sea of clouds in Mt.Huangshan. Because during this time, temperature of the lower atmosphere and the condensation level of the stratocumulus is relatively low (approximately 800-1,200 meters), the cold air frequently appears. After snow or rain, boundless sea of clouds often can be viewed. And please bear in mind that the tremendous spectacle of sunrise from the sea of clouds is an unusual sight, it is a must-see.

Sunrise

In winter you can have more opportunities to see spectacular sunrise than in the other season as the clouds in this season are lower and rain is a rarity in Mt.Huangshan.

Sounds of nature

Mt.Huangshan is a good place to listen to the sounds of nature in winter. The murmur of springs in the thunder of the cascades, the soughing of the wind in the pines, the chord of the sea of the clouds, and the voice of the broken ice are known as the five sounds of Mt. Huangshan. They can be heard in the proper places in this mountain. But the last one only heard at midday in winter, when the sunlight melting the ice, the valleys often echo with the clear and ringing voices of the broken ice off and on. It is such a mysterious sound that you will immerse in the fantastic imagination!

Animals

The thick forest and the gullies near the Pine Valley Nunnery are the paradise of the animals. In winter, you can meet birds, elks, deer, monkeys, foxes...crowded here to find food. Winter of Mt. Huangshan is an ideal photographic studio for the Shutterbugs and the exploring world which has been yearned for by the animal fans.

Here is a recommended Huangshan Tours for all who want to view Huangshan in winter:

Day1

Upon your arrival at Huangshan City (Tunxi), then to the Hotel. The rest of the day is free at your own leisure.

Day 2 Huangshan ( Mountain Yellow)

After breakfast, driven 80 kilometers (about 1.5 hours) to Huangshan Scenic Area. Take cable car at Yungu Station to the top of the mountain and view the fabulous snow sceneries on Mt. Huangshan, then trip to the North Sea Scenic Area and West Sea Grand Valley to enjoy the dramatic wonder snow rocks and silver peaks, and then see the sunset glow over the snow-covered peaks at the Cloud Dispelling Pavilion (Paiyun Pavilion), etc. Stay overnight at the summit.

Day 3 Huangshan ( Mountain Yellow) / Exit

Get up early in the morning to catch the magical sunrise from the snow world. After breakfast, mount on the Shixin Peak (Beginning to Believe Peak) to see the grotesque rime pine trees, icicles, ice carvings of nature, sea of the clouds in snow, then take the cable car down to the foot of the Mt. Huangshan. And then drive back to the Huangshan City to visit Tunxi Ancient Street and Ink Stone Factory. Finally, fly to the next destination.

If you want to take a Huangshan travel, please bear these Huangshan Travel Tips in mind:

1. Winter is the most economical time for visiting Mt. Huangshan as the prices for hotels and the entry fee are lowered by 15 compared to those of the peak seasons, however, Chinese spring festival(commonly last for 7 days) is an exception, during which the price is the same as normal seasons.

2. The hotels are centrally heated so you don't have to worry about the cold.

3. Winter usually comes in late October in Mt. Huangshan. The mountain often snows from November to the next March. But December to the next February is the best time to enjoy snow. Exceptionally, if you are lucky, you may the one who first see snow or rimes in late October.

4. Antiskid shoes are provided as well as heavy coats in most hotels.

5. Take your down-jacket and wool or fible-pile ski-style cap or balaclava for warmth.

6. Put your travel shoes on, better cover straw sandals on them, and stick and gloves are necessary.

7. Use the cable car to get you up the mountain in Cloud Valley Temple rather than spending lots of time ascending on foot if you feel run down. The car is comfortable and safe at anytime you need not worry about that.

8. Take your camera, if you don't you will regret that.
Winter Vacation New England
Winter Vacations are a blast! Whether you are taking an active one, skiing or snowboarding on the slopes, or just hanging out in a cute little log cabin or chalet, there's something about the winter and snow that just makes life seem simple again. But, winter vacations can cause a lot of skin problems, thanks to reflected sunlight, harsh winds and dry air, so make sure you look after your skin while relaxing. There's no point in coming back from a ski trip with a sunburn!

One of the most important products for protecting your skin is sunscreen. Many people figure that winter sunlight isn't a big deal, since it is far weaker than mid-summer. However, that doesn't mean you can't be burned. In fact, the sunlight reflects very well off the bright snow crystals and that glare that hurts your eyes is also damaging to your skin! Also, if you are heading for the mountains, keep in mind that UV rays penetrate the thinner atmosphere at higher altitudes very well. A good sunscreen is a must and if at all possible, you will want to go with organic sunscreen.

Why use organic sunscreen before hitting the slopes? Well, regular sunscreens tend to have a lot of things in them that you probably don't want on your skin, particularly under harsh conditions where it is already difficult for your skin to stay healthy. Benzoylbenzene, a common ingredient used in sunscreens, has been linked to allergic reactions in many people and other ingredients and chemicals could actually be very harmful to everyone who uses them, even those who don't suffer from allergies.

Everyone knows by now that skin cancer is most common in those who have sun-damaged skin, which is one of the main reasons that we use sunscreen. However, some sunscreens actually contain ingredients that may cause cancer! Some synthetic compounds used to create these creams are actually quite dangerous, something that has only recently come to light. Otylmethoxycinnamate, benzophenone 3, and octocrylene are three chemicals that are often used in sunscreens as UV filters. They slowly seep into the lower layers of the skin, leaving top layers exposed to the sunlight and even react with the UV rays to create reactive oxygen species, a compound that is very harmful to the skin and can promote skin cancers like melanoma. This is a particularly good reason to opt for organic sunscreen instead of regular ones.

Using an organic sunscreen, particularly during the winter, when sunlight can be especially damaging thanks to being reflected and intensified by snow, is a far better option. The natural ingredients contained in these sunscreens are far safer and because they are organic, don't contain those nasty chemicals that could end up causing you to pay huge medical bills and deal with skin cancer.

Organic sunscreen is also formulated to be kind to sensitive skin, making it the ideal option for babies and children, as well as anyone who has sensitive skin that can't handle the harsher ingredients in regular sunscreens. For your winter vacation, even if you don't usually have sensitive skin, it's a good idea to treat your face gently. The dryness and chapping caused by wind and snow combined with sunlight makes even the hardiest of skin more sensitive. Organic sunscreen will ensure that no extra damage is done and will do a better job of protecting you from harmful UV rays.
