Wireless Security Surveillance Systems

    View:
Have you ever watched a horror film where the villain snips the wires to a telephone or home alarm? The scariest part is realizing that, despite your home's security system, it could happen to you. In order to truly protect your home and family against the threat of break-ins, you need to invest in a wireless security system.

A wireless home security system is a burglar alarm that does not use wires to transmit messages; instead it uses radio waves to communicate. This leaves the burglar or the intruder clueless, unable to know which wires to cut to deactivate the alarm.

There are two kinds of wireless burglar alarms on the market. The first type is activated when the alarm is tripped, but only the homeowner or neighbors can hear the alarm. This kind of system doesn't make a whole lot of sense if you live in a rural area and are away from home when a break-in occurs. Another kind of wireless security system uses a monitoring device that will communicate a forced entry to a security company. When the alarm is triggered, the security company will check to see if it's a genuine break-in; if it is, they will call immediately to dispatch the local police.

The central brains of a wireless security system is the control panel, which can usually be located in the basement or a closet. Here, all the wireless signal data from the various magnetic switches and motion detectors in the home is sent. If the control panel detects a suspicious movement or door or window entry, it will sound the alarm or place a phone call to the monitoring staff at the security company.

Small, inconspicuous magnetic contacts are attached to windows and doors. They include two parts, a magnet that is placed on the window or door, and a switch that is placed inside the door jam or window sill. They work very simply: if the distance between the switch and the magnet increases, which would happen if the door or window were forced open, a signal is sent to the control panel, which sounds the alarm.

Large hallways are sometimes equipped with body sensors as part of a wireless security system package. These devices use passive infrared motion detection methods to sense motion or body heat. If motion is detected, a signal is sent to the control panel. At that time the panel will analyze the level of threat, and then decide whether to alert the central monitoring station.

Each wireless security system includes a keypad, which homeowners use to turn the system on or off. Normally, keypads are installed beside the main entry door, so that it is convenient to arm the alarm when leaving, or to deactivate it when returning home. Some systems also include remote devices, similar to a car alarm, which can operate several features. Homeowners can also switch lights on or off from a distance using the remote controller, to give the illusion that the home is occupied.

Some wireless security systems also come with cameras, which can be all mounted or hidden. The cameras connect to a control panel and a recording device, such as a VCR. If an intruder is detected, the cameras record the home scene automatically. Some packages also include camera monitoring by security staff at the alarm system company.

A home security system is a good idea for protection and peace of mind. But for the highest level of security, consider a wireless system as the best choice, because of the enhanced features offered.

Video surveillance systems are modular, elastic, and scalable. They can be tailored to suit all the security requirements, without disturbing your budget. Video Surveillance Systems include digital video recorders, DVR cards, USB (universal serial bus) capture devices and remote video surveillance software. The Remote Witness video surveillance software provides recording of motions as a high-resolution digital video and display multiple cameras simultaneously from the camera location or a remote site.

Different industries, including security agencies, corporates, agencies such as the FBI, shopping malls, use video surveillance equipment as a precautionary measure. Police officers use it to keep a tab on criminal activities and people like you and me find it helpful in protecting their property. Commercial establishments use Surveillance Cameras to keep an internal check on employees and visitors. Surveillance Cameras ensure adequate checks over the employees, criminals and other people.

Intelligent video surveillance software can make security systems more efficient by performing automatic real-time recognition and detection, ID, tracking, and analysis of potential threats and events. The ability to run advanced video surveillance algorithms on a chip makes it possible to add potential to many devices that are part of the standard security systems, including smart cameras and DVRs (digital video recorders). Video surveillance cameras have become popular because of the ease and simplicity that they provide when it comes to security surveillance.

Remote video surveillance system comprises a base and a remote end. The base is a normal desktop computer that has built in video conferencing boards and video surveillance software. The remote has input and output lines that are linked to video cameras, detectors and safety devices. The remote is programmed to to run its own security and defense program and to dial the M4 satellite telephone to report to the base in case of trouble.

Recent events like terrorist attacks, illegal activities, and the onslaught of crime have made people conscious about security needs. People from both the public and private sector have been obsessively setting up digital video surveillance systems. So much so that, almost every building, every busy street is equipped with video surveillance systems.

Surveillance is a hotly debated topic, and a double whammy, because your privacy is encroached.
