Age Spots Liver Spots

    View:
Liver Spots also known as sun spots and lentigenes. Liver Spots are associated with cumulative sun exposure. Liver Spots is a small, pigmented flat or slightly raised spot. These lesions are flat, tan, brown, or dark brown spots on sun-exposed skin. These spots more than anything else, give away a person's age. Liver Spots are extremely common after the age of 40. They occur most often on the backs of the hands, on the forearms, shoulder, face, and forehead, areas of highest sun exposure. A biopsy should be considered if a lesion develops a highly irregular border, changes in pigmentation, or changes in the thickness to rule out cancer. The main symptom is a skin lesion that is a painless, flat patch or macule (area of skin color change).

Liver Spots typically take years to form, though they have been found in young children, and eliminating the spots will also take time. Liver Spots may evolve slowly over years. They may occur anywhere on the body and vary in colour from tan-brown to black. Melanocytes appear to replace keratinocytes in the basal layer of the epidermis. Liver Spots are usually treatment is cryotherapy, hydroquinone preparations (bleaching preparations), retinoids, chemical peels or lasers. Several creams may lighten liver Spots if applied for a number of months. Laser therapy destroys the extra melanocytes that create the dark pigment without damaging the skin's surface. A broad-spectrum sunscreen may help to prevent further appearance and darkening of liver Spots.

Bleaching solutions such as hydroquinone can be useful for people with fair skin. Always wear good large hats, long sleeved shirts, long skirts or pants, umbrellas, gloves, and any sort of clothing that will help protect your skin. Use high quality sunscreens, preferably with SPF (sun protection factor) ratings of at least 15. Apply sunscreen at least a half hour before exposure, and reapply frequently. Sunscreen should be applied at least one-half hour before sun exposure and it should be reapplied frequently. Sun protection is strongly advised lentigenes treatment. Kojic Acid is also a newly discovered, successful treatment of age spots liver Spots. The newest treatment for liver spots is alpha hydroxy acid gel and beta hydroxy acid gel. The gel is applied to the spots each night.

Liver Spots Treatment and Prevention Tips

1. Topical vitamin C treatment is effective for treating liver spots.

2. Laser therapy destroys the extra melanocytes.

3. Retin-A cream is applied to the spots once a day for six months.

4. Liquid nitrogen therapy is the quickest way to get rid of liver spots.

5. Liver Spots can also be treated with an alpha hydroxyacid peel.

6. Wear protective clothing such as hats, long-sleeved shirts, long skirts, or pants.

7. Cryotherapy (freezing) or laser treatment may be recommended to destroy the liver spots.

8. Avoid the sun, and wear protective clothing. Use sunglasses to protect the eyes.

9. Avoid sugary processed foods and drinks. Drink 2 liters of water each day.

10. Carrot juice in particular is recommended as a good source of betacarotene.
Age Spots Liver Spots
Years of overexposure to the sun can cause a lot of damage to your skin. One major concern of people especially women is the appearance of age spots. Age spots are brown, red or even black spots on the skin. Age spots are blemishes that can appear on the cheeks, forehead, arms and shoulders. Age spots are also called skin spots, sun spots or liver spots. Because they are unsightly, people try every means possible to lighten age spots. There are different ways to do this but some of them can give results quicker than the others.

One way to quickly see results is to undergo clinical procedures. Only trained professionals should do them.

One of these clinical procedures that women are using is cryosurgery. Cryosurgery uses a technology that is quite unique. It uses freezing agents applied on the skin to freeze abnormal skin cells. Once these skin cells are frozen, they are easier to remove. Cryosurgery is effective and quick but it is also expensive.

Another clinical procedure that is sure to give quick results is laser treatment. Laser technology is used to effectively and quickly remove age spots. You would need to undergo a few sessions to see results. Like cryosurgery this procedure is also a bit expensive.

Another quick way to remove age spots is to use creams. You can use microdermabrasion techniques to lighten age spots. Creams with crystals or abrasive particulates are applied on the skin with the unwanted spots to exfoliate them.

There are other topical creams available in the market. These creams contain not abrasive particulates but bleaching agents. They not only fade age spots but they also lighten the skin around them. A good alternative to creams are bleaching soaps. They also contain bleaching agents to lighten skin spots. Generally, these creams and soaps are cheaper than the other methods mentioned.

All these methods will effectively and quickly remove age spots. But removing them should not be your last concern. You may effectively remove them but they may still come back if you get exposed to the sun again. So preventing reoccurrence of age spots should also be your concern. Here are some tips to help you prevent having age spots again.

First is to use sunscreen before stepping out into the sun. Sunscreens or sunblocks will protect you from ultraviolet rays coming from the sun.

It is also advisable that you drink lots of water to hydrate the skin. Dehydration causes a lot of skin problems so it is best to always drink plenty of water to prevent this.

Eat a lot of food rich in vitamins and minerals particularly those that are rich in vitamin C and vitamin E. These vitamins are known to improve skin cells.

But still the best way is to physically protect you from being exposed to direct sunlight. You can use a cap or a wide-brimmed hat to shield you from the sun rays. You can also use an umbrella as protection.

For the women out there, if you want to lighten age spots quickly, just choose from any of the ways mentioned above. And if you want to prevent them from coming back follow the tips mentioned here.
