Old Testament:
Chapter 16 in the Old Testament is Genesis 16; it is composed of 16 verses.
Verses from 1-10 are talking about the root of conflict between Arabs and Jews through the questionable story of Abraham's wives; Sarai and Hagar.
Abraham had two wives, Sarai and Hagar. Sarai restrained from bearing. She said to Abraham:" go in unto my maid; it may be that I may obtain children by her" and she gave her to her husband Abram to be his wife.
Hagar conceived. Herein the problem began Sarai and Hagar. Abraham said unto Sarai: "Behold, thy maid is in thine hand; do to her as it pleaseth thee". Sarai dealt hardly with her. Hagar fled from her face. the angel of the LORD found her and said unto her:" Return to thy mistress, and submit thyself under her hands."
It is hard to believe in this story because:
A- According to the History, Hagar was not a maid; she was a daughter of a king and was the precious gift of Egypt's king to Abraham when he was in Egypt.
B- This is not the behavior of Sarai; the good blessed woman
C- The story put Abraham in a bad situation; He acted very negative as if He was a piece of chess; Sarai commanded Him and He obeyed without having saying.
D- The angel of the Lord could not tell to anyone to submit to anyone BUT the LORD.
However, the Jews used this story as the root of the bad Arabs; although it is Sarai who acted bad not Hagar according to the Biblical story!
