I was really surpised to see a small clinic open by my home that advertised colonics and natural colon cleases. I mean, I had heard about cleansing supplements, but I live in a boring, suburban area, and I did not think that people here believed in natural remedies like they did in the more progessive urban areas of my city. Apparently, the small colonic clinic was doing a steady business, as I always see cars parked out front, and they have stayed open for more than a year.
Well, I was curious enough to research some possible benefits of getting a colon cleanse. I already suspected it would help people with digestive problems like constipation and diahrea. My research confirmed that many consumers reported having a much more comfortable time at their morning toilet because they took the time to have a colon cleanse. I was not surprised at that. I know that our standard American diet does not always contain the fiber and nutrients we need to keep our digestive system at its peak. However, we can correct some lapses with natural supplements.
Many people even reported an increase in energy. No doubt, our intestines have trouble absorbing all of the nutrients from the food we eat because they are clogged up. Once these people had their digestive system running like it should, they said they felt better from the inside out. In addition to having more energy, people also said their mood had improved.
Another side benefit of being able to absorb nutrients was a reduction in food cravings. And that reduction in cravings led to more awareness of how food affected their bodies too. These people were happy to report that they finally managed to lose some weight they had been battling with for years. The colon cleanse gave them the jump start they needed to reach their weight loss and health goals.
Not only did these people report that they felt energized, and more able to increase their physical activity level, they did not feel as if they had to raid the fridge at odd hours of the night. The snack machine at work, which once held such appeal for them, was forgotten about. Consumers did say that it was important to find a gentle and natural cleansing solution, because some of the harsh ones gave them painful and embarrassing gas. But gentle ones just brought them back to a natural state of elimination that they had not known for many years.
Now a colon cleanse supplement is not the same as having a colonic. For one thing, it is cheaper. You also do not have to schedule multiple appointments because you can take your supplement at home. And most important, I think for me, is the fact that you can do it in private. Nobody has to deal with your toilet time but you!

1. Dandelion Root - Dandelion root has been known as an effective liver cleanser as it stimulates bile discharge. This enables the liver to release toxins into the bile from which these toxins now enter the intestines and consequently get excreted from the body in the form of feces. 8. Apple Fiber - Apple fiber aids digestion and is beneficial to colon health.
9. Licorice Root - This herb is an organic detoxifier and it has laxative properties. It promotes regular bowel movement.
10. Flax Seeds - Flax seeds function much in the same way as fiber does - it makes the elimination of bodily waste much easier. It also promotes good digestion.
11. Bentonite - This herb attracts metals that are harmful to the body and acts like a sponge by collecting harmful toxins.
12. Slippery Elm - Not only is this beneficial to the colon, it also has positive effects on the stomach and the intestines.
There are a many other herbs that you can use to cleanse your colon. It all depends on your location, take time to check what is available in your locality. You may use these herbs in combination with each other to make herbal concoctions, opt for herb supplements or drink them as teas.
Whichever form you choose there is no denying the advantages that you can gain by incorporating herbs into your cleansing regimen. To be extra safe, make sure you consult your physician or a licensed herbologist if you are planning to use herbs as colon cleansers.
