Allah made the wind subservient to Solomon, (whereof the morning course was a month's journey) He would go in the morning for a trip that was a month's journey. The evening course of the wins was a month's journey too i.e. Solomon could come back in the evening from a trip that was a month's journey too!
The morning course means the time from the morning to the noon. The evening course means the time from the noon to sunset. Both courses are about 6 hours.
Roughly speaking, a month's journey equals to 1200 kilometers! It follows that the speed of the subservient wind to King Solomon was 200 km/hour (124 miles/hour). This verse indicates that King Solomon used the subservient wind to fly for his trips with a speed of 200 km/hour (124 miles/hour).
Also, Allah caused the copper to melt for him, and so the fount flowed and to gush forth for him) to make of it whatever he pleased,
And (Allah gave him) certain of the Jinn and made the Jinn subservient to him (who worked before him) by means of magic buildings and other things by permission and command of his Lord. The jinn [there] were those who worked before him by the leave, by the command, of his Lord. And such of them as deviated from the Lord command, to him to obey him [Solomon], Allah would make them taste the chastisement of the Blaze, the Fire in the Hereafter - but it is also said, [that their chastisement was] in this world, in which case an angel would smite one of them with a lash thereof that would scorch him.
Allah disposed, for Solomon the wind to blow strongly (in verse 21:81) and 'to blow softly' (in verse 38:36) ; in other words, it is either blowing violently or gently respectively, according to what King Solomon wanted. The wind made its way, at his command, to the land which Allah has blessed, namely, Makkah (the Holy City in Saudi Arabia; and Allah has knowledge of all things, among them the fact that the Lord, exalted be He, knew that what He gave to Solomon would prompt him to be subservient to his Lord, and so Allah did this in accordance with His knowledge.

It is amazing that the Quran declares this unique and amazing information about King Solomon who was devoted to his Lord. These Historical facts are not mentioned in the Bible. On the other hand, the Bible declares that King Solomon loved many foreign women; He had seven hundred wives and three hundred concubines! His women (1000) led him astray; and turned his heart after other gods!!

By the way, the disbelieved ignorant Arabs stated that the Quran quoted from the Bible more than 1400 years ago! (Read my article about chapter 25).
