Ferry Corsten Right Of Way

    View:
Several attendees, an interesting topic and a lot of new ideas that you wanted to share. You already know the topic by heart, you are sure that a lot of your audience would appreciate and fully understand what you want to share with them. You already did your research on the topic as well, how it came about, the specifics, the pros and cons.

Getting Started

What you need to do now is to put together all the information that you have. Arrange it in such a way that the audience would stay awake on the first part, doze off in the middle and partially listen at the end.

In order to fully get the attention of your audience, introduce the subject first to them that would get their attention. Quote a trusted name in the field, add humor and simplify your introduction. This would definitely get the attention of your audience.

As you go over your topic, make the atmosphere as light as you can. If possible, interact with your audience and get reactions from them use simple words that they would be able to understand without difficulty. If you need to provide a technical term, do so but always explain the concept that even a child would understand.

There is no use to using a lot of words that only you and a few people understand. This can only divert the attention of your listeners from you. Who would want to listen to someone who talks about something you couldn't even understand?

Also in lightening up the mood, it can also encourage the listeners to think about what you said. They just don't take in everything that you said because that is different.

Thinking about the topic that you are presenting means that you were able to interest them in what you are talking about. But letting them just take everything that you said would just have them listen to you but after the presentation is over, they can easily forget it as well.

So after you have all these in hand, try to practice what you have in front of a selected audience ? family, friends (or even pets if you cannot get anyone). If you were able to get their attention to what you are saying, and they were able to understand what you are trying to say, then you are already on your way to making it work.

And what would a presentation be without the tools that you need? So prepare all the materials you must have for your presentation ? overhead projector, board, laptop and even the laser pointer. Prepare everything that you need and be ready if any of these would fail you, be ready for a backup.

Also, for you audience to be able to review your presentation on their own time, you would need to give out a copy of your presentation. This would be your support material for the specific things you want your audience to remember.

Getting remembered by your audience even after your presentation is one reason that you should invest in . Your presentation folder should look professional and dependable as well. It should not look like it was just an afterthought but that you really made an effort to set it up for your audience.

Presentation folders are where you would be keeping the information that you gathered for a long time and where your audience can refer to as well. This is the reason why you have to put a lot of effort as well on this one because this would be what is left to your audience after you finish talking.

Choosing a printing company that would handle your presentation folder printing would be vitally important because you need to be assured that your copies would arrive on time and that it would be of very high quality as well.

So in an effective presentation, you need to focus on the details before your presentation as well as after. And this would assure you that you did a good job and a little more practice would make you an effective presenter.

Dealing with other people, however, is never as easy it seems. There's appropriate etiquette to be practiced, proper decorum to be observed. Without these, human relationships are fragile and can easily fall apart.

Getting To Know You

In essence, meeting people is easy enough. By approaching a person, starting a conversation, and taking out a card from your card case, you're already making a new acquaintance who could possibly become a good friend.

In this day and age, however, it isn't so easy anymore. People have become jaded, paranoid, and distrustful. It's easy to become wary when a stranger sits with you and strikes a conversation. Even if you do manage to overcome that initial uncertainty and have a relatively good conversation, you're still likely to keep your card case in your bag. After all, you'll never know if you just opened your card case and gave your business card to a serial killer until after you're chopped up into tiny pieces. Furthermore, even if you do decide to take a card from your card case, that person might not even keep in touch.

You'll also find that certain etiquettes need to be followed when making new friends. For example, your handshake must be firm for you to be taken seriously. You have to keep your hands to yourself at all times for fear of sexual harassment. Body language has to be kept neutral. By appearing too expressive or too stiff, you stand a chance of turning off your new acquaintance. You even have to watch how you take out your card case and your business card. Indeed, these are troubled times we live in and people just can't help but be suspicious at all times.

Moving Forward

Once you've successfully hurdled the initial test of making a new acquaintance, it's time to make a friend. Normally, it should be smooth sailing from this point forward.

However, it has become increasingly difficult of late. People have developed colder exteriors and have built walls around themselves that are difficult to penetrate, and understandably so. More and more people have been taken advantage of by so-called friends, lovers, and even family members. It's only logical to be very careful of who you choose to trust.

And in order to be trusted and to be given a chance at real friendship, you have to break the barriers of suspicion and rightfully earn someone's trust. Watch your language at all times. Being vulgar and offensive won't win you a friend. Know your boundaries and keep to them at all times. Most of all, don't come on too strong, or else you'll risk driving people away.

Indeed, getting close has become more of a test, rather than a natural occurrence. But then, by behaving yourself and knowing your place, not only will you be expanding your social network. You'll be making friends.
