Jim Rohn Network Marketing

    View:
As a network marketer, there are a number of habits you have to develop. Not only do you have to develop certain habits, you have to make network marketing a habit. Just as bad habits can constantly prevent you from doing things that are critically important, good habits can force you to do the exact opposite. But in order to have these habits and to employ them successfully, you first must spend the time to develop them.

Superb Salesmanship

One of the most important habits you must develop is great salesmanship. No matter how good your product is, no one is going to want to sell it if you can't convince them to do so.

The greater part of doing this is learning the art of salesmanship.

So what does sales entail? Primarily, salesmanship entails being able to communicate everything clearly and concisely.

While there are a number of important devices you can use as a salesperson, none is as important as being able to clearly explain what it is that you want your target audience to understand.

This will be important in two instances the first is convincing customers that your product is worth buying. In order to do this, you will have to clearly connect the product as a solution to a problem they have.

You will also have to clearly communicate the benefits and explain why it is different or better than similar products. Now, in the second instance, you must “sell” the opportunity to all of the members of your network. I personally suggest you do this in an honest and ethical way.

If they can't realistically earn $30,000/year the first year in your program, then do not tell them that. Rather, tell them what people actually have made and what was required. It is always important to clearly communicate to new network members.

Explain to them what it is that they are doing exactly and how you would suggest that they could best get it done. Above all, remember to employ salesmanship often and to develop it as a habit, not just a skill.

Helping Other People

Another habit you'll have to pickup is to like to help others, even before you attempt to help yourself. This sounds counter intuitive, especially if your goal is simply to make money at any cost however, as almost all network marketers learn, helping others and helping yourself often means the exact same thing.

The reason why this is so true with network marketing is because the best way to earn is to get others to do the work for you to gain leverage. Without gaining leverage, your best hope is to simply sell the product yourself through some type of direct marketing scheme.

Now, if you want to gain leverage, you have to find ways to teach others to do what you presumably know how to do yourself which is to find prospects, introduce them to the product, and then close sales. Conversely, if you are shooting for a network perpetuation model, you will want to be able to show people how they can recruit people just like you.

With this being said, there is a significant difference between knowing and doing. You might know how to teach people this process, but if you are unwilling to actually do so, the skill is useless.

So make a habit of helping others especially those in your network. Whenever someone sends you an email, make your best attempt to respond to it quickly and comprehensively.

Even if the person himself is unlikely to earn you any money, your simple act of kindness could stir him to spread the word about your network to his friends.

Additionally, remember that helping others is only one part of the equation the other is making sure you do it correctly.

If you can't come up with a workable model for people to replicate your success, then you may not want to begin building a network rather, you might want to stick to direct sales.
Jim Rohn Network Marketing
Negative thoughts, deep rooted beliefs and self doubt arethe main reasons why people quit the network marketing industry.

It follows them, that managing this negativity, along with havinga steely determination and commitment to persevere, are crucial if you want tosucceed.

Most people join a network marketing company with an air ofexcitement and a sometimes na've thought that it is a simple process and thateverything will fall into place. The truth is, it is a simple process but thatdoesn't mean that it doesn't take a lot of hard work and determination tosucceed.

Most newcomers to the industry and quite a few seasoned prostake no like a personal rejection. You must understand that in networkmarketing, you need to get through a large number of no's in order to get tothe yes's, and it's what you learn about your approach when getting the no's,that determines how quick you improve and therefore get a better ratio of yes's.

Those who do take the rejection personally tend to let thenegative feelings manage them instead of the other way around. This is when theresolve usually starts to weaken which can deteriorate into a vicious circle.

Vicious because the rejection starts to sap the enthusiasmand belief of the distributor and this affects their performance whendelivering a presentation or sharing the opportunity. The audience will nodoubt pick up on this and there will be more rejection and so on.

It's like there is a tug of war going on between the goalsand aspirations of the individual and the negative emotions they allowthemselves to be subjected to by their mindset.

As leaders in the industry, we need to support our teams andlet them know what to expect, that the no's are an important part of theirsuccess. Do you think the guy in McDonalds frets all evening because you saidno you don't want fries with that? Of course not and the network marketingprofessional accepts the no's with the same attitude.

The problem is that we are programmed in life a certain way.We don't readily accept change, we get into ruts and believe that what we haveis all there is. The truth is that we can re-programme ourselves any time wechoose to. By steering clear of all the negative, dream busting people aroundus, by filling our minds with success oriented training and education, byenvisioning optimistic results in our life, by focussing on the drivers in lifethat compel us to keep going.

If this resonates with you, don't worry it's not your fault. Most of the news portrayed on television and in newspapers is negative, otherwise it wouldn't be news. Most company communiqu? is negative. We just livein a negative society and what we surround ourselves with, what we watch, whatwe listen to and who we associate with will have a tremendous bearing on ourbelief system and mindset.

The vicious circle usually looks something like this.

  1. You get the initial rejection.

This could be just a timing issue on the part of theprospect and isn't exclusive to network marketing, but what happens is that youtake it personally and nobody likes the feeling of rejection. Unless you keep yourresolve to succeed, you start to naturally shy away from further rejection.

  1. You get frustrated.

What you need to realise at this stage of your networkmarketing career, you need to learn and improve the technique of presenting theopportunity and this only comes with practice. Value the no's because we needthem to improve. Jim Rohn says it best when he said, ?I remember the first timeI got up to speak, my mind sat back down. But I did it again and I did itagain.?

  1. Frustration leads to discouragement.

When discouragement sets in we begin to doubt ourselves. Weeven doubt the company and even the industry itself. We get the ?this isn?tworking? mindset, forgetting in an instant, that there are many peoplesucceeding in the same company and countless people succeeding in the networkmarketing industry period.

  1. We are stifled into inactivity.

When you can't see where the next yes is coming from, it isvery easy to stop looking. No action will of course lead to no results and welose heart very quickly. All you can hear are the voices of the so called friendswho said you were mad to get involved in the first place.

  1. We quit.

The naysayer tells you they told you so, your confidence isshot and you quit.

It doesn't have to be that way.

The secret is to manage the negativity that we all feel fromtime to time. To do this you must first earn your stripes as we all had to.What do I mean by earn?

E          Escape from the negativity. Whether it?sfrom the television programmes you watch, the newspapers you read or the peopleyou associate with. Realise that negative emotions are temporary and that youcan control them with your own thought processes, so practice positivethinking.

A         Access positive, success orientededucation. Whether it's a cd programme, DVD or tape it doesn't matter, as longas you improve the quality of what you read, listen to or watch.

R          Receive input from others, it could befrom your spouse, your upline, your mentor or someone else in your team. We allget down from time to time; find out what works for people who you see assuccessful when they get down and implement it in your own life.

N         Negativity is a decision, so decidethat you aren't going to let it get you down. Get it out of your life, focus onyour vision, your dreams, your goals, your skills and surround yourself withpositive people and positive input.

Once you have earned yourstripes, realise that network marketing is a numbers game and look forward withrelish, to working your way through all the no's in order to find all the yes?swith your name on them.
