Scrapbooking Tips And Ideas

    View:
Raising funds is one of the most important work in a charitable institution or organization. This is where the organizations get the money that they need to complete their annual project. Although there are some donors who donate a sum of money that can last an organization a lifetime while some commit annual donations, there are still many small organizations that are in need of donations. These rely mostly on fundraising events and trade fairs where they sell products or meet up with potential donors for their projects.

The product or services that you will be selling to raise funds for your project is one of the most crucial part in creating a successful fundraising campaign. The product will not only generate the money that you will need, it will also be one of the things that will identify with your organization or your project. Choosing the right one is extremely important.

Below are some tips and new ideas on how to find the right product, making fundraising easy to manage.

Look into the image

In case of trade fairs and fundraising events where you have to sell something, it is important that you choose the right product or service that will carry your organization. It is not enough that you just choose something that you can dispose of easily. You should also consider the image that the product will bring into your organization.

This is the reason why much importance is placed on the way the product fits the organization. For instance, if the organization is all about kids, you can consider selling stuff that kids will enjoy or parents can buy for their kids. This will not only highlight the importance of taking care of the country's kids, it will also generate income for your organization.

How easy it will sell

Another way to make your fundraising a little bit easier is to find a product that will sell easily. To do this, you must be able to research on the things that your target market needs and wants.

A product may be quality and it may be unique but without the proper avenue to sell it, it cannot generate sales for your organization.

Research on the market

Look for items that your target market will be interested in. Also, you should study the market in the area where you are going to sell. For instance, an item may be too "city-fied" if you are selling it to people in rural areas.

The same goes with items that are too rural to be sold in the city. There are also things that will click in certain places and in certain times. For instance, Christmas cards will not sell well during the summer but it will definitely be a big thing come November and of course in December.

Have you ever been in charge of a fund raising activity? If you have, then it was a very worthwhile learning experience wasn't it? And if you haven't, well it's not as easy as it looks.

Though, a fund raising activity should be fun and fulfilling it does not always goes as smooth as the organizers plan it to be. That's why it is always ideal to plan carefully your activity to ensure that all bases are covered and you have a contingency plan for everything. There are, however, some ideal techniques to make sure that your fund raising activity is a success.

Make sure that donors will have a pretty easy time giving to your fund raiser. Never give too complicated directions or too many steps. Make the process easy for people to donate money, gifts, supplies, checks, etc. Ideas are almost limitless.

Aside from the more common bake sales and car wash fund raising activities, you could ask your officemates to bring their own lunches once or twice a week. Instead of buying from the cafeteria, ask them to save the money instead and donate it for a better cause. If you want to involve the whole community, a yard or garage sale would be a good idea. Yard or garage sales is very similar to bake sales and are very effective means to raise some funds.

For a larger event, you could host a walkathon or marathon. Running or walking for a cause will help increase awareness. The whole community will be aware of your efforts and will entice more individuals to donate for your cause. You could ask for a small registration fee which you could use to fund your campaign. You can even get media exposure for these kinds of events.

Similar or related activities include community tournaments like golf and tennis tournaments which have become popular nowadays. The best and fastest ways to organize these events is to invite and get local gym managers and local sports clubs to be as involved as possible in your fund raising activities. You could make them members of your committees.

Also remember that sometimes, the best way to raise money fast is to be unique. Give your community an activity that has never been done before. This will surely attract their full attention.

But, regardless of how you conduct your fund raising event, it is always necessary to keep it simple. Don't go overboard. Donors might get turned off by your gimmicks and antics and would not consider giving their donations to you anymore. Just be simple and plan ahead.
Scrapbooking Tips And Ideas
Once you have discovered the fun of scrapbooking, you will discover the endless layout possibilities, the numerous tools available, and the dizzying array of material for enhancing your page. Here are a few practical scrapbooking tips to help you save time, eliminate frustration and get the most out of your investment.

Basic Tips

1. Acid Free Everything: The name of the game here is preservation. So make sure you are using paper that will last. Most will say either acid or PVC free on the front. Also, use an adhesive tape that comes with a tape runner instead of glue. Any of the tapes sold by scrapbooking companies or websites should be acid free.

2. Work Outside the Box: Ok, in this case you will work outside the book. Good albums have removable pages. I recommend adding pages only after they are completed. It's easier to have a single page in front of you while you cut, adhere and manipulate materials, than your entire album. Also, you have more flexibility to move pages around.

3. Be Thematic: Choosing a theme helps to unite your choices of paper, color, quotes and embellishments. Whether it's a holiday like Halloween, a place like ?The Farm?, or time related like ?Age of Innocence,? you can weave this theme throughout your related pages, and gain inspiration from them at the same time.

4. Focus Focus Focus: Each page should have a focal point. It may be a single photograph, a journal entry or a series of pictures, working together. Know where you want people to look when they first view your page and work outward from that point.

Tips for Tools

As much as we women like to tease men about their obsession with power tools, many a scrapbooking gal gets tingles all over when she unwraps a new cutter, shape maker or package of rainbow assorted markers. Let's face it ladies, the tools make the project. Here are some tips on how to choose the right ones.

In addition to your most basic tape pair of sharp scissors, straight and decorative trimmers can make a cropper's life much easier. Trimmers are basically small paper cutters that help you achieve perfectly straight or wavy lines. As some one who can't cut straight to save my life, my cutter is a must have. Cutters that come in round, oval, heart-shaped and other patterns are also fun.

Every scrapbooker needs a good set of writing utensils in a variety of colors. You will want both fine-tipped and broad pens for different needs. Pens to reduce red-eye and photo labeling pencils are also handy. Finally, stencils that allow you to create arcs, swirls and half circle for headings and labels will be useful.

The Icing on the Cake

The materials you use to decorate your page will make it uniquely yours. Beginning scrapbookers are often overwhelmed by the many choices that exist. Here are a few favorites to get you started.

Fastening brads are those tiny gold pieces that go through the holes in paper and flatten down on the other side. These are available in stars, hearts, and almost any shape or color you can imagine. Using brads to fasten ribbons, ticket stubs or memorabilia is fun and inexpensive.

Scrap paper and your gel pen can be used to create a quilted appearance by making stitch-like marks around the outside of the paper. Another easy embellishment is to punch holes in a piece of paper and weave ribbon in and out of it.

Anything is fair game for your scrapbooking needs. Probably the best scrapbooking tip of all is to look at everything from a scrapbooker's point of view. You will suddenly see pages of music, menus, church bulletins, fabric swatches and cheap jewelry in a whole new light.
