Sun Protection For Hair

    View:
The Sun????????s UV radiation is damaging to your skin! Over exposure to ultraviolet radiation can cause short term health effects such as sunburn, wrinkles and sun spots. Long term exposure to ultraviolet radiation can increase the risk of damage to the skin which may cause skin cancer and eventually Melanoma, as well as damage to the eyes which may result in cataracts.

This message has been repeated by government and private health organizations in the hope it will raise awareness amongst parents and personnel responsible for children outdoor activities.

below are important sun protection messages, please take your time reading and sharing with your community:

??????? Extended sun exposure during childhood increases the risk of skin cancer later in life and can cause serious damage to the eye.

??????? All children below age 15 have sensitive skin and eyes ???????? protect them and set a good example for them!

??????? Children below one year of age must never stay in direct sun.

??????? The sun is getting stronger and children are exposed to its damaging rays during lunch and recess. Encourage your children to use sun protection and to take a break in the shade.

??????? Most of our lifetime UV radiation exposure occurs before age 18.Protect your children ??????? their skin will be healthier and look younger throughout their lives.

??????? Parents ???????? protect your children from the sun. Teach them about avoiding sun exposure and the proper steps for sun protection.

We have selected more sun protection messages which we hope you will find useful and handy:

THE BASIC SUN PROTECTION MESSAGES

??? Limit exposure during midday hours.

??? Seek shade, especially during midday hours, when the sun???s UV rays are at their peak.

??? Wear protective clothing (UPF50 ).

??? Wear sunglasses.

??? Wear a broad-brimmed hat to protect the eyes, face and neck.

??? Protect the eyes with wrap-around design sunglasses or sunglasses with side panels.

??? Use and reapply broad-spectrum sunscreen of sun protection factor (SPF)15 liberally.

??? Avoid tanning beds.

??? Protect babies and young children: this is particularly important.

??? Taking certain medications as well as using perfumes and deodorants can sensitize your skin, causing serious burns in the sun. Ask your pharmacist for advice.

??? Sun exposure increases skin cancer risk, accelerates skin ageing and causes damage to the eyes. Protect yourself!

Shade, clothing and hats provide the best protection ??? apply sunscreen to parts of the body that remain exposed, like the face and hands. Sunscreen should never be used to prolong the duration of sun exposure. Targeted groups must include children and young people, since frequent UV radiation exposure and a history of sunburn during childhood and adolescence is an important risk factor for skin cancer, especially for potentially lethal malignant melanoma.

SUN TANNING MESSAGES

??? Tanning does not stop much UV radiation! Even when your skin is tanned, limit your exposure during midday hours, and continue to protect yourself.

??? Sunburn is literally an indication that your skin has overdosed on UV radiation so Slip! Slop! Slap! and Save Your Skin.

PERCEPTION OF UV RADIATION

??? Cloudy weather does not mean you can not get burnt. It is the UV radiation in the sun rays that burns you and causes skin cancer; and UV radiation can penetrate through cloud.

??? Remember the sun does not need to feel hot to damage your skin and eyes. The damage is done by UV radiation, which is not seen or felt.

ACTIVITY-BASED MESSAGES

??? Don???t forget your sunscreen, hat and long-sleeved shirt. That should be all you need to make sure you don???t get a nasty dose of sunburn.

??? High altitudes and fresh snow can double your UV radiation exposure, so wear sunglasses and sunscreen!

??? School break means fun in the sun for the lucky ones. If you???re one of them, remember to pack a hat, sunscreen and sunglasses.

??? Springtime, gardening time. While tending your flower beds, don???t forget to protect your skin.

ENVIRONMENT-BASED MESSAGES

??? If your shadow is short or if you are exposed for a long time ??? protect yourself!

??? A lot of UV radiation can pass through clouds.

??? In the mountains, UV radiation levels increase by approximately 10% with every 1000 metres in altitude. Snow reflection can double the quantity of UV radiation you are exposed to.

??? Fresh snow can double your UV radiation exposure, so wear sunglasses and sunscreen!
Sun Protection For Hair
Every year, millions of people head outdoors as soon as the weather warms up. Sports, family gatherings and even work can take us outside and into the potentially harmful rays of the sun. If we dont keep ourselves protected from the sun, we may end up with skin damage, eye damage and even harmful skin cancer.

Sunscreen is a great tool to help prevent sun damage, but it is not enough on its own. When you spend any amount of time in the sun, it is essential to wear protective clothing and sunscreen to minimize the effects of the suns ultraviolet rays. While most of us are familiar with sunscreens and how to choose the right sunscreen for different types of skin, not many of us know how to pick out UV protective clothing.

Choosing the Right Sun Protection Clothing

The first thing to keep in mind when picking out sun protection clothing is how its effectiveness is measured. Sunscreen is measured by sun protection factor. This number measures the amount of time that it will take for exposed skin to get red. Eye protection factor is the rating that establishes the amount of eye protection provided from eyewear. Sun protection clothing, however, is measured in ultraviolet protection factor. This number measures how much ultraviolet radiation can penetrate the fabric and reach the skin. This rating is based on the weight of the material, the tightness of the weave and how much skin the clothing protects.

Some fabrics have a naturally high ultraviolet protection factor, while others are treated with special chemicals to increase the amount of sun protection they offer. Because of this, some sun protection clothing can lose its effectiveness over time. Replacing your sun protection clothing often ensures that it is effectively blocking harmful rays.

The higher the ultraviolet protection factor number, the more protection you will get from that garment. An ultraviolet protection factor of 10 provides significantly less protection than a garment with a factor of 50. When purchasing sun protection clothing, look for the highest ultraviolet protection factor available. Also try to purchase only sun protection clothing that is certified by the Australian Radiation Protection and Nuclear Safety Agency. The ARPNSA is the world leader in ultraviolet protection testing.

How to Protect Your Entire Family

When you go out into the sun, it is especially important to protect kids skin. The number of peeling sunburns experienced during childhood is directly linked to the risk of skin cancer later in life. Sun protective swimwear and sunsuits are available for all ages and can help to prevent some of those childhood burns. Sun hats are another great way to keep kids tender skin protected from the damaging rays.

Adults have slightly different needs depending on the types of activities that they will be doing in the sun. When fabrics become wet or stretched, they can often lose a great deal of their protection. Look for mens and womens sun protection clothing that is meant for the activities youll be engaging in. Surfing, swimming and lying on the beach will all require different types of UV protective clothing.

Enjoy Your Summer

Once you know that your family is protected from sunburns and the related skin complications, you are freer to enjoy your outdoor activities. Shop for and buy sun protection clothing for the entire family early in the season and spend the rest of the summer lounging, playing and enjoying the unique sensations that only summer can provide.
