I was driving around last night, listening to the radio like I always do, when I heard a song by Vertical Horizon that I have heard many times before. However, last night the song truly struck a chord with me. The song is called Everything You Want. The lyrics go, "He is everything you want, He's everything you need He says all the right things at exactly the right time - But he means nothing to you, and you don't know why."



This is a truly amazing song if you can stop and think about what the words are really saying. The song is describing the lifelong plight of the "nice guy". It's surprising how many nice guys have problems hooking up with women. They can't get a date because of the simple fact that they are TOO nice.

Simply said -- the nice guy does not get the girl because he is too nice to her, which in turn kills the attraction. In fact when women look at these men, they see a great friend, not a potential date.

The Vertical Horizon song explains the plight of the nice guy in just a few stanzas. The nice guy is everything a girl wants -- he is kind, considerate, attentive, brings her flowers and is genuinely interested in her day. He is everything that most women say they want in a man. But he means nothing to her.

Instead, she ends up going out with some jock stud muffin who is rude, crude and can barely spell his own name. Why does she go out with him? Because she is attracted to him.

Now, I am not by any means saying that you should be mean to women or treat them like dirt. What I am saying is that you need to create attraction with a woman from the very start in order to get the girl. You need to get her attention and hold her attention by fanning that spark between you and not letting it die.

What's the best way to do this? There are several things you can do; however, one of the most effective is using what many people call a cocky funny attitude. To be cocky and funny you tease her, make jokes at her expense, bust on her and keep her completely uncertain of what your next move is going to be. You need to keep her guessing as to whether or not she is having an effect on you.

Most guys don't get it revealing your level of attraction to a woman in the beginning of your relationship is the perfect way to kill the attraction. The typical nice guy is going to let her know that by treating her like a diamond. The dumb jock, on the other hand, is not going to reveal this to her and his unfeigned "I don't care" attitude is naturally going to keep her guessing -- and coming back for more.
