We as human beings get scared easily. When a very highly charismatic talk show host invites a so called expert into their shows and talks about something and the host agrees, we also tend to believe what is said even without verifying the facts. Detox plans (especially diets) are really just weight loss programs that have been wisely injected with statements that toxins in our body can be lessened by doing this and that. A person's health is one of the things everyone is always worried about so we tend to do detox programs more vigorously as compared to weight loss programs.
What do weight loss diets and detox diets have in common? The most glaring similarity is the food that is allowed and disallowed. Both diets recommend you consume fruits and vegetables more. Why is it? It is because vegetables and fruits especially fibrous ones and protein rich food does the following: Fiber foods helps greatly in ones metabolism while protein foods help burn fat faster.
One of the most laughable aspects of detox diets and that it has taken effect is when people grow lighter, slimmer and sexier. People will correlate the loss of weight as a sign your body has gotten rid of the toxins in your system.
Of course a person who is on a detox diet will lose weight, you are being deprived and restricted to eat only certain types of food. Meat products especially pork is usually banned, other calorie high products like rice are also banned. Coffee and alcohol are also banned. Your body effectively loses weight without the consumption of certain food stuff that make you gain weight. It is a fact also that eating less pork and meat stuff will make a person feel better and like a new person. Food like coffee acts like stimulus to our system making use crave for it when we constantly consume it. So if we detox we are effectively trying to cancel out the craving we are going to have for those stimulus foods.
In fact some detox diets encourage the use of laxative to hasten the flushing out of toxins as they say but this really is extreme to a point. This is why detox programs are being criticize by certain parts of the medical community as it uses ones fear to do things that are outrageous even if detoxification has some logical aspects in helping our body.
In the first place if you are already having a healthy diet, there will be less toxins that will enter your body particularly toxins you get from certain foodstuff. By effectively lessening the entry of more toxins to your body, you are already giving your liver a break by helping it process less toxins. Some detox program are just extreme versions of weight loss diets out there so the next time you are thinking of doing a detox diet, ask yourself first if your body can handle the rigors of doing so.
