Places To Visit In The Uk
London is the most popular place for tourists; they come from near and far to see Buckingham Palace, watch the Changing of the Guard and Trooping the Colour, St. Paul's Cathedral, Westminster Abbey and the Victoria and Albert Museum. Also taking in a cruise on the River Thames, or a guided tour on an open top bus. There are also the Houses of Parliament and Big Ben. In the evening there's plenty of shows to choose from. Or maybe you might like to try out some local cuisine. Accommodation needs to be booked well in advance as hotels and B&B's fill up very quickly.
Lincoln also has a lot of tourists, for it's Castle and Cathedral. It was the hometown of the poet Lord Alfred Tennyson, whose statue sits in the grounds of the Cathedral. It also boasts the signing of the Magna Carta, one copy out of the four remaining ones now survives in the archives of the Cathedral. The Cathedral was recently used in the filming of the Da Vinci Code. Tom Hanks stayed at the now famous White Hart Hotel, just a stone throw from the Cathedral.
Stratford upon Avon is famous for William Shakespeare, it's one of the important tourist sites in England, and it has easy road, rail and airport access. Situated in Warwickshire. Many people go to Stratford other than for Shakespeare. It's an ideal setting for romantic breaks.
The Lake District in Cumbria, has some fantastic scenery, it is famous for its lakes, mountains and the poet Wordsworth. Hundreds of tourists particularly those from Japan come to the Lake District to visit the home of the children's writer Beatrix Potter. It has about 14 million visitors a year. The Lake Windermere Steamers are the second most popular tourist attraction in the U.K. Lake Windermere is twelve miles long, one mile wide and 220 feet deep, it is the largest naturally formed lake in England. Ullswater is the second largest lake in the Lake District, ideal for fishing and cruising. There are walks, from a short amble, or for those of you who are more adventurous and daring mountain walks.
Even if you don't come to the U.K. have a great holiday anyway.
