I have something against those people who do nothing to look younger. Just because they are now in their forties or fifties, they let themselves 'look' old, not necessarily 'grow' old. While you can't do anything about 'growing' old, you surely can do something about 'looking' old. I also agree that age is nothing but a number and how old you are is first how old you 'think' you are. You can delay the aging process for as long as possible if you continue to 'think' and 'look' young all the time.
You might be surprised how many people there are who still harbor thoughts of living longer than even 200 years old. Millions, I dare say. This is why anti aging has such a strong backing and a cult following. Products are bought off of the racks in hordes, and all the processes are being tried out as they evolve. Some people even offer themselves for experimentation despite the possibility of things going wrong.
However hard you try, you are bound to grow older. It's the one thing, as they say, that goes up and never comes down. But with anti aging, you could slow the process, or you could make it look as though it wasn't even happening.
One of the most major causes of premature old age is worry. That is why some experts and physicians have wisely nicknamed the lines and wrinkles that appear on elderly people's faces - worry lines, because to a large extent, that is what they are. And when you put yourself in that position, you cannot enjoy all the anti aging that the experts might be trying to work out for you.
When you consume a lot more calories daily than you burn, you are asking for trouble. To begin with, you lose form and expose yourself to a whole lot of diet related ailments. In addition, you are leaving creating room for rapid aging.
Traditional medicine has shunned much of the practices from so many years ago, when a lot depended on herbs that were taken directly from the source. These practices have now found mainstream focus in contemporary times as people seek to live longer. Now, a lot is borrowed from them that help to cure diseases in an unprecedented manner, and thus keep younger and alive longer.
Leaders of women's movements in the United States are amongst the most vocal concerning anti age actions. Many of what they preach counters the direction taken by gerontologists who think that there is something wrong with growing old. For instance, Betty Friedan's book The Fountain of Youth paints positive outlooks on age and aging.
Some people who live in cultures that ascribe much honor and status to the oldest people are reputed to have lived far beyond 100 years. They have in fact become so common that a new category of such people seem to been born. 'Super Centenarians' are people who do 110 years and beyond. Not like they are much used to the neighborhood, other than that contemplation. Are you sure you really want to hang around that long?
