I just want to say how lucky   I feel to be alive this year   In fact I've done a lot of thinking   I can't recall another time I grasped what it means to be alive   I would take all of my x's   Drawn in pen and left to dry   And make a pile to the ceiling   And burn a perfect effigy of what I've come to realize wasn't me      I don't have a boat to dock, a plane to land   Or an appearance to keep up   What I'm dealing with is love.   I won't need another pass, a safety net   Or even need a second chance   I'm not going to mess this up      Cause I wake up to a dream   With a perfect set of eyes   And a way with words I envy   The way I wish that I could write   And I'm never quite convinced that it would hurt if I got pinched   But I believe you.   And we're existing in a forum   With an open pair of minds   The best and worst together   An intersection of our lives   And I'm never quite convinced that it can get better than this   But you'll proceed to, so I believe you
