for one moment i thought i understood   everything that never made sense   to anyone before   but as i was holding on   you moved on to newer moments   and i just sat there   and watched the sunset alone   and i swear that the sun had all but died   on the edge of the sky   and i held out my hand to keep it from falling   but it melted through my fingertips   it slipped through my hands   forever was the moment when   it got darker and all i saw was your face   and you were laughing like you always do   and i wanted to hear just that   coming from behind the first star in the sky   but hey! where are you now   the world just emptied out   right in front of me   and i know that somewhere that i can't see   as the sun fell away   it rose up for you to see
