If you fancy staying in the cool and green Dago area, but are on a budget, hotel Bukit Dago is an option your accountant would agree with. It is located on the main road that heads off into the Dago hills, yet is in close proximity to the Bandung city center. Although the façade isn't that noteworthy and one might be inclined to pass it unnoticed, it's worth a closer look, because it spurs some surprising features. The lobby is a tiled, dark space, with a check in counter, a small seating area and an even smaller shop, nothing spectacular there; functional rather than stylish so to say. The hotel has 65 rooms, ranging from a very economically priced standard room, to moderately priced VIP rooms and cottages. The banner on the main road advertises a rate of Rp.100,000 for the cheapest option, including a/c, breakfast, hot water and colour tv. Since the hotel is only 5 years old, rooms and communal areas are spotlessly clean and well maintained. All rooms are painted in fresh colours, although some of them are of a lucid green colour scheme that might make falling asleep quite a daunting task. The downstairs restaurant is in an uncanny schoolcantine style, with white tiles as its sole decoration. Luckily, the included breakfast can be ordered through phone and is delivered at your doorstep free of charge. The restaurant prices are also extraordinary budget friendly, with simple main courses for under Rp. 20,000, large Bintangs for Rp. 16,000 and soft drinks, fruit juices and coffee for around Rp.5000. The staff is friendly and forthcoming, and although unlike in more upmarket hotels there's no tourist information desk, or a international relations counter, the numerous regular guests show that hotel Bukit Dago understands what service and hospitality means without making you pay for it.
