An A-Z Guide To Vitamins

    View:
If you spare the time to peruse through the next few sections you will understand the basics for each vitamin and hopefully this will enable you to have a better understanding of the main 4 vitamins that are a fundamental part of day to day life. It was 1909 when the first vitamin was discovered and the latest to be discovered was back in 1941. Altogether there are 13 sorts of vitamins, these are divided into water and fat soluble vitamins. To distinguish between the two, fat soluble vitamins are kept in you body and only need to be taken periodically, unlike water soluble vitamins that are normally part of a day by day dose as they don't get stored in the body. Below are the main 4 vitamins that some of you will be well aware of, and here you will understand a bit more on how each vitamin works and what the benefits of taking them are for you.

A History Of Vitamin A

The very first of the vitamins to be uncovered was Vitamin A known in some circles as Retinol. Vitamin A was found back as early as 1909 in cod liver oil and can now be found in many food sources. Many of those are meat products such as pork, chicken and beef but if your a vegetarian don't worry! Vitamin A sources can also be found in the likes of butter. Vitamin A has many benefits that comprise of helping your visual strengths, supporting your immune system and commonly maintaining and improving your body to a high fitness level. Taking too much can lead to a disease called Hypervitaminosis A which can then result in dry skin and osteoporosis.

The Ups and Downs of Vitamin C

Vitamin C is another primary vitamin that is a fundamental part in keeping the body healthy . First discovered in 1912 that was accurately traced in lemons, Vitamin C is questionably the most noted vitamin out there with traces in most major fruit produce such as strawberries and tomatoes. Vitamin C takes effect internally within your body in defending cells and keeping them in a strong and fit condition, and helping the body take in iron from the food that you intake. Vitamin C can't be stored in the body and consequently it falls into one of the water soluble vitamins which means you will need to take it daily.

Information on Vitamin D

Vitamin D was first discovered in 1918 in cod liver oil and contrary to popular belief isn't just found in fish related foods. Milk is also fortified with Vitamin D so whenever you do yourself a bowl of cereal for your breakfast you can take into fact that you will be getting a daily dose of Vitamin D. If you're looking for a white shining smile then this vitamin is the one that helps that. Vitamin D helps to control the quantity of calcium in the body which is significant in keeping your bones and teeth healthy. Vitamin D is a fat soluble vitamin and consequently it too is stored in the body and doesn't need to be taken daily.Further more, a little known fact is you can get vitamin D by being in the sun.

A History Of Vitamin E

Eventually we come to Vitamin E which was the most recent of our main 4 vitamins to be discovered, this was found in 1922 in a source of wheat germ oil. Foods with Vitamin E in can include peanuts, asparagus and seeds. The recommended dosage of this vitamin can help protect your body by acting as an antioxidant that will help to fend off any illnesses that can affect your immune system and help to fight off illnesses and other viruses that can threaten your health. Taking too much of this vitamin could be risky and you could be looking at a chronic disease such as lung cancer.
