Physically Abusive Fathers



It is hard to figure why any father would beat his off spring to such an extent. Yet, these fathers love their children immensely. A study was conducted to figure out the motivational factors that induced fathers into abusing their young.

• They have extreme expectations of their youngsters and beat them in an urge to instil discipline



• Some alcoholic and drug abusers also are known to hurt their children in drunken stupor.

  Motherly Duty
  
  As a mother it is your duty to protect your children. Child abuse is a serious offence. Fathers, who beat their children also emotionally abuse and neglect them. A few of them also sexually harm their children. Physical violence ultimately leads to bizarre consequences. Children die. On an average 5 to 6 children die everyday due to abuse and neglect. Just 15% of the abused and killed children were aged above 6. 41% of the children were aged between 1 to 6 years. While, 44% of the killed were mere infants! If these children escape death, they have a high probability of turning child delinquents or criminals when they grow.
  
  Would you allow your children to meet such a fate? Your mere silence will encourage further abuse of your children. Abuse increases in the cloak of secrecy. Children do not speak out either to their teachers or friends. They are afraid of reporting it. They also cover up for their father if they are directly questioned about it. Sadly, every abused child feels responsible for inviting the abuse.

  Your continued silence will greatly damage your children. They will turn shy, withdrawn, refuse to emote and withhold all pain and sorrow inside. You will not be able to understand their behaviour. They will turn destructive and aggressive. Or they may languish at the other end of the spectrum by turning extremely submissive to authority.
  
  Your husband may love the children. Let not this deter your decision. Such fathers though they may love their children have no genuine concern for their welfare. If physical and emotional abuse continues in spite of your vehement protests, it is time you take some vital decisions.
  
  Choose Your Children or Your Spouse
  
  As a mother and protector of the child, it is important you take a stand on the sustained injustice meted out to your children. Quite a few mothers fail to take timely action. They had been silent spectators for they feared divorce and its unfamiliar consequences. Another category of mothers tolerated abuse as they felt it was a part of childhood. They themselves belonged to homes where violence was the accepted norm of disciplining.
  
  If you refuse to divorce your husband, be prepared to see your children grow up into unhealthy adulthood. Statistics reveal that 90% of the abused children experiment with alcohol when they grow up. 3/4ths of these children have an auto accident. Univocally all these children lack self esteem, self assertiveness and enter into dysfunctional adulthood.
  
  Divorce your spouse if he physically abuses your children. By filing for a divorce you are gifting your children a new lease of life. This should be the decision of every mother cutting across all segments of society should take. For, physically abusive fathers are found everywhere, transcending nations, continents and even races. Abuse survives and flourishes in the privacy of homes. Break such unhappy bonds and gift yourself and your children a lifetime of happiness.
