If you have just broken up with your boyfriend, you should never argue with him about the break up. Most of the time, arguing about the break up is not going to make the situation better. In fact, it will usually make the situation worse most of the time.

It doesn't matter whether you can accept his reason. It doesn't matter whether his reason is valid. It doesn't matter that his reason changes every time you ask him about it.

The point here is, if you try to argue with him about the break up, he will only become more defensive and irritated. This will really spoil your chances of getting him back. It may even make him think that he has made the right choice to break up with you. In fact, the first thing you want to do is to agree with him about the break up.

While this seems rather counter intuitive, and is not something that many people will do, it works very well. Most of the time, people make the mistake of doing the logical things like calling your ex several times per day and arguing etc. Unfortunately, doing all these logical stuff is usually going to make matter worse. It makes it more difficult to get your boyfriend back.

When you tell him that you agree with the break up, he will usually be quite surprised since this is not what he expected. It is important to stay calm and cool about it. If you don't feel like you can say these thing to him face to face or over a phone, then a letter or a text message will do.

If you have already argued with him about it, then you should stop doing that immediately. What you can do now is just to say something like, "After thinking for a few days, I think you are right". Suggest that both of you should not meet up for the time being so as to give each other time to cool down. One month is probably a good time period. Doing these will make it easier to get your boyfriend back. After that, you can ask him out again.
