Why He Isn't Asking You Out
Aaron Adams
Actually, it's probably something you did, or didn't do. Remember that first impressions last, and you may have innocently left the wrong first impression with him. For instance, when you meet a new man, do you consciously try to be polite and follow all the rules of etiquette?
Well, rules are really good to have, but they might set the bar a little too low for your potential relationship. For instance, if you meet a new guy and talk to him about his job, his hobbies, or his friends, then he'd probably think you'd make a great friend – but not much else. Once he sees you as a friend, it's going to be tough to make him see you otherwise.
Other women also make the mistake of trying to be a “volunteer therapist” to the guy. These women try to get into the minds of these men and identify any problems that he may have, or at least they try to find the things that he worries about. They even sometimes look for problems that don't even exist! But when they do figure out what's bothering the guy, they'll try to be his problem buddy and help him get over it. This may be an easy way to get close to some men, but what happens when he solves his problems? Exactly – he'll say thanks and show himself out.
Of course, men make these same mistakes when meeting new women. Ever been approached by a stranger with a cheesy pick-up line? That's probably how it feels for men, too, when you try to be his “volunteer therapist.” To know the right way to approach him, here are some tips:
Tip #1: Talk about things you're passionate about. This doesn't mean your job, your hobbies, or your pets – instead, find things you're truly passionate about, such as the things you see greater than yourself. These could also be the things that give your life purpose. It's rare for men to find women who can see the big picture, as well as see how they fit in it. Needless to say, men find such women very attractive. You can be that kind of woman, too.
Tip #2: Try not to be predictable. Men start to feel that they've got you all figured out when they know the things you're about to say before you even say them. Always try to bring new conversations into the mix, since everybody enjoys a nice surprise every now and then. Doing this will encourage him to do the same, and there'll be more opportunities to smile for both of you.
Tip #3: Try not to be boring. Politeness and etiquette is nice, but it can be boring, too. Remember that men would much rather be with a woman who's fun than one who's polite. Try to flirt, tease, and joke around every once in a while. Men love that.
When you figure out what makes a man tick and use it to your advantage, you'll soon be making the best first impression ever – and everything else will follow.
